Level 45 Quest - Knight
Lineage Playforum detailed (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=3643) the Level 45 Knight Quest on Test Server.

Playforum commented that this quest was very difficult.

The prizes from this are a Belt of Bravery (AC -1, +30 HP, Knight Only, Material: Leather, Weight: 50). We're confused on the whole invisible Giant thing, more on that as it is figured out.

Level 45 Quest - Mage
Lineage Playforum detailed (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=3642) the Level 45 Mage Quest on Test Server.

The prizes from this are a Mana Cloak (AC -2, Mage Only, Material: Cloth, Weight: 10). According to one mage, with Crystal Staff, Ancient Robe, Potion of Mana, Meditation and the Mana Cloak, they could regen at a rate of +55 MP per tick. It was not specified what WIS this mage was or if he was in the inn. If this was done on a WIS 18 Mage not in the inn, that would mean +17 MP per tick from the Cloak alone.

Level 45 Quest - Elf
Lineage Playforum detailed (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=3640) the Level 45 Elf quest on Test Server.

The prizes from this are the Spirit Crystal (Summon Greater Elemental) for level 50+ Elves, Gloves of Protection (AC 0, HP +20, MP +10, Elf Only, Material: Leather, Weight: 10), Ancient Piece of Key, Ancient Man's Bow. The latter two items are unknown, but rumor suggests that it will be somehow related to Valok.

  4. Fixed bugs with Lindvior's flying away escape.
  5. Fixed bugs with Giant's area attack.
  6. Adjusted Tower of Insolence monster drops
  7. Added Ring of Summon Control. This ring will allow you to summon all monsters that you have the level to summon. In addition, it will allow you to summon Minotaur, Gargoyle and Dire Wolf. As a hint, it will be available in the Tower of Insolence.
  8. Pledge system changed so that if you want to create a pledge, you need to register with a Pledge Manager (located in all towns). This update is to control the creation of meaningless pledges.
  9. If a prince joins an alliance, a redudant confirmation option has been added.
  10. 19 Pledge Houses in the "slum" section of Aden have been added for auction. They don't look very good, but they're nearby an NPC with good prices and the Sewer Entrance.

Test Server News
Starting at 11:00 AM CST on Thursday, February 27th, we will be conducting tests on that test server that may cause stability issues with the server and/or reverts to backup. Additionally, there may be content changes to the server during that time that will not reflect any scheduled changes to the main US servers. Customers accessing test server should be aware of these changes and adjust their playtime accordingly.

As a reminder: Testing feedback may be posted on the Lineage “In Testing” message board or submitted to support@lineage.com using the following template:

3/7 - Test Server *possible* Wipe
The US Lineage test server is tentatively scheduled to be ‘wiped’ on Friday, March 7th. This wipe of character data will occur ONLY on the US Test Server. The wipe of character data will erase all characters that exist on the US Test Server.

Please note: the decision to wipe the test server will be dependent on testing of the Alliance system and the quality of feedback and participation in that testing. Testing feedback may be posted on the Lineage “In Testing” message board or submitted to support@lineage.com using the following template:

Additionally, it has come to our attention that there is a current trend toward disruptive behavior on the test server including: interfering with both NC staff testers and players helping to test, excessive spamming on the chat channel, spamming the testing staff with whispers and trade messages, etc. The US Lineage test server is subject to the same rules and regulations as main servers, and continued disruptive behavior may result in account suspensions.

Maps and more maps
We found a Japanese fansite, lineageX, which has apparently written or discovered a map generator. As a result, they have some great maps of the Aden overworld as well as pretty good replacements for our crude Tower of Insolence maps. So, they have all been replaced on the Map Guide on the left. Enjoy!

CORPS - US Dep's Level 60 Knight

ded·i·cate (dd-kt)
tr.v. ded·i·cat·ed, ded·i·cat·ing, ded·i·cates

To commit (oneself) to a particular course of thought or action: dedicated ourselves to starting our own business. See Synonyms at devote.

You might as well replace these lines with one word, CORPS. For she is one hell of a dedicated hunter. In fact, some have already started to refer to some areas in FV as "the place where CORPS hunts". And as a result, we have the first (to our knowledge) lvl 60 Character on the American servers! Mark down the date 23rd of Febuary as CORPS day!

*Applause*

It took her Seven months and Seven days to level from 52 to 60, which by all means is pretty damn fast for a mother of two. Between standing afk somewhere in town and tending to her children she gets in to some kind of hunting-trance where it's almost impossible to get her to respond. Which probably is for the best, as hunting hour after hour in FV would be hard if you keep responding to whispers. Even so, she says that she enjoyed every minute of hunting, except for the times when she couldn't find any mops. That is in my mind, pretty commendable, as the rest of us have to go siege or fight others sometimes to avoid getting bored. But not CORPS. She's spent pretty much the entire time from level 1 to 60 running around various areas of Aden in search of XP. And that's over a year of constant hunting. Before she hit 52 you would see her cleaning out the Desert, and after that she moved to FV. And she's NEVER been chaotic, mainly because she only defends her self if attacked. When asked if she'll ever siege or participate in fight she gave me a big "maybe, who knows" in return.

People might be surprised over the fact that she got to level 53 using a dial up connection, which only disconnected her a few times (I use a Cable connection and I still get disconnected alot *sniff*), resulting in her only deaths between level 52 and 55. At one time she also deleveled because of this. She now has a DSL connection though, which obviously works alot better.

While most level 52+ Knights will camp bosses sometimes, CORPS will only got to hunt them if a friend or pledgemate tells her that it's up.

Her pledge, QuietMode (the one with the word "Quiet" as an emblem), is run by her Fiancée, AKA WarGod.

Now you're probably wondering what her stats and items are, but she's a very secretive person, so she'll only let you know that she has 70 Mp and that she's a Str Knight.

And as our interview neared the end she wanted to thank everyone in Lineage, friend or foe, because she didn't want to leave anyone out.

But she doesn't stop there:

"CORPS: I want to send a special thanks to my fiance, kids, and roommate saying that i love you and thank you all for being in my life everyday. oh and thx to QuietMode for being so quiet haha."

"And a BIG HUG to SoulScream" (Yay! =P)

Her request is that NC should balance the stat caps accoring to what class you play, meaning that a Knight shouldn't have it's Str capped at 25 if a mage has it too. Or and Elf's Dex capped at 25 etc. etc.

As for me, I think that all characters above level 60 should get to morph into the dragons, just to show them some thanks for accomplishing this hard and time consuming mission. Doesn't have to be anything that increases speed or something like that. Just plain eye candy.

And that's all for this time. Let's all give CORPS a big CONGRATULATIONS and hope that she continues past level 60 or starts to siege.

Until next time...

Going All The Way - FirstClass hits 52

They say, “He's so lucky, he's a star. But he cry, cry, cries in his lonely heart, thinking, if there's nothing missing in my life then why do these tears come at night?" Sometimes it’s hard to be famous or powerful, people expect so much from you and there is nothing you can do. FirstClass of the Astralfamily blood pledge on Depardieu knows this better than anyone. It’s not all about wishful thinking said the three year veteran, you just have to buckle down and play ten hours or more a day.

He is very proud of his account and sometimes plays over 24 hours straight making around 16 %. He had to sacrifice a lot to get to 52, his girlfriend left him because he spent so much time on the game, “I couldn’t take very good care of her, she was so mad… but I remembered older people often telling me that if I have an ambition, if I do set up a goal, I should go for it no matter how hard it will be.”

Many people may have noticed that FirstClass got from 49 to 51 very fast but then stopped for a few months, this is because he went to Korea for a month and school started, and he is only 27 after all. He also has been leveling his mage which should reach level 50 very soon. He wants to make a record; no one on Depardieu has a level 52 knight and a level 50 mage on the same account. This constitution knight decided to add his two points into strength, but plans to add dexterity until level 58 where he will have a total of 18.

FirstClass hails from Toronto like many other players and has met several people from the game in real life. He says he gets very nervous because he is thinking about this female mage or elf and then the person is totally different than how they are in the game. It’s like a blind date, you spend all this time building them up and then when you meet them you’re all nervous and treat them like princesses, especially if she’s cute.

At the moment this death knight is unattached, but soon hopes to find a new lineage girl to marry once it is enabled, so ladies, don your best and try out for this sexy death knight.

He hunts mainly in fire valley, which is odd because I never see him, and dragon valley caves. He also enjoys the occasional Main land caves hunt, and his favorite monster is a muryan. His most prized possession is a +8power glove and he says the craziest thing he ever did was when he got totally drunk and laid down in the middle of an intersection! Well, keep on rockin’ in the free world FirstClass!

LeeGiGum Bubsa 2 - Level 65 Mage

correction: Oops, we had the name wrong - thanks to ksj2712 for finding our mistake, we were just hoping the mage had a weird name. sorry ^^

Jude1004.com (http://lineage.jude1004.com/news/index.asp?pg=/news/view.asp&cts_id=4698) reports that LeeGiGum Bubsa 2 (translation: LeeGiGum Mage 2) has reached level 65 on Paagrio server in Korea. He is the highest level mage in the world (we think). (In September, there was a mage very close to him in level on Einhasad server, DragonElf, he may have the title - we'll keep an eye out).

It took him 14 months to get here (which is actually quite fast!). He was level 57 in September, so the last 8 levels took only 5 months! He said he spent level 52 - 60 in DVC 4f and then 60 - 65 in Forgotten Island -- solo. He recently cut down on his Lineage play (from 15 hours a day to 14..)

LeeGiGum started off as a STR 18, CON 18 mage, but has added +3 to STR, +3 to DEX and +9 to INT in his levelling up. With -79 AC, 572 HP and 382 MP, 67% MR with Immunity to Magic rings, he is quite force to be reckoned with. He didn't give much information about his hunting style or any know-how, but he did mention that he was very particular about every XP and every adena in his hunts.

Note that he does not have all spells. :)

Light - Level 70 Knight
Lineage Playforum (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051003&kid=1861) reports that Light (the second highest level player in Lineage in the world) has reached level 70. (It took 5 months to get from 65 to 70).

Light plays on Arain server in Korea. When we last saw him at level 65 in September, he had 864 HP (now 965 HP), 56 MP (now 60 MP), STR 24 with Power Gloves and STR amulet (now STR 25 with nothing) and AC -83 (now AC -97).

Light says that gaining experience has made levelling very hard since level 65. It took him 9 hours of DVC hunting to get 1% (since level 65).

He invested in STR, DEX and CON with his level up bonuses, but he didn't notice a big increase in his ability to hunt with CON. In fact, he even said he regretted putting points in CON. He commented that he is sure that Poseidon feels the same way about his CON points. He was hoping there would be some update in the future which would increase the purpose of CON, but so far nothing. Since his STR is maxed out (you cannot get your base stat points past 25, you would need items to get higher), he has been dismissing the window which asks him which stat to add to without making a decision (it comes up every time you log in, if you don't pick).

Playforum asked him if he had any advice to level 51+ knights about what stat to pick and he answered definitively, STR. He says DEX is good, it increases your AC and all, but STR should be first, then DEX. (I suppose you can plan that way if you plan to get to level 70 ^^) He pointed out that DEX knights hurt him much less than STR knights.

Also posted in the article is his hunting partner, elf "Han Byul". Here is a piece of the screenshot below:

new MOG magazine
Got this in an email. LC reporters have actually contributed to this, and we plan to continue in the future. I haven't seen this magazine yet, but I'm going to order and see what it's like.

Full disclosure is that we get money off of every person who subscribes by clicking on the links below (we would have posted anyway ;). You know how we don't do banner ads, so we're not going to start now (once this news post hits the archives, it stays there), but if you're interested in the mags, click through LC. ^^

[http://www.mogonline.com] MASSIVE ONLINE GAMING Returns! IMGS Releases MOG #2 in March

When "Massive Online Gaming" ("MOG") debuted in October 2002, it received rave reviews as the first and only print magazine devoted exclusively to the unique culture of massively multiplayer online gaming.

Fans of the first issue were disappointed, however, when the second issue failed to appear as scheduled. Unfortunately, MOG's original publisher had gone out of business, putting the magazine on hold as we searched for a new publisher.

Now we are pleased to announce that we will be publishing MOG ourselves, with issue #2 scheduled to appear at the end of March 2003. (Who are we? See "About Incan Monkey God Studios," below.)

We're also making several exciting changes to the magazine:

  1. MOG is now MONTHLY.
  2. Each issue will continue to be full color, with about 144 pages per issue.
  3. Each issue will sell for $5.99 via internet sales (less than 40% of the price for issue #1). Canadian subscriptions are $7.99 USD per issue; all other international sales are $9.99 USD per issue. The purchase price DOES include postage and handling worldwide, but not sales tax for Texas addresses.
  4. MOG will not be distributed to retail outlets (at least for awhile). It can only be purchased online, by anyone in the world.
  5. There are many things that are staying the same. We are keeping all of the premium features, news, updates, "Ping" thumbnails, columns, interviews, screenshots and other content that made MOG #1 so popular. (Want to see PDFs of MOG #1 or the contents of our next issue? visit www.mogonline.com)
  6. MOG may be accepting a limited number of paid ads (less than 10% of the pages). You told us you wanted to see a few ads, but only ads that directly relate to massive online games. That's what we'll be giving you.

Issue #2 contains articles on A Tale in the Desert, Adellion, Anarchy Online, Asheron's Call, Asheron's Call 2, Ballerium, Dark Age of Camelot, DarkSpace, Dransik, Earth & Beyond, EverQuest, Furcadia, Horizons, Meridian 59, Neocron, Star Wars Galaxies, The Sims Online, Ultima Online, Warhammer Online, and World War II Online, plus thumbnails on over 150 MOGs.

****** ONLINE SUBSCRIPTIONS ******

MOG will be sold and marketed under an exciting new concept that takes full advantage of the ease and convenience of e-commerce, as well as the universal internet connectivity of our readers.

The primary way to buy MOG will be through internet subscriptions. By "subscription" we mean something basically identical to your monthly game subscriptions. When you sign up for MOG, your credit card will be charged when the issue ships. You will be charged again each month (when each issue ships) until you cancel your subscription.

The subscription price DOES include all postage and shipping and everything else (except sales tax for Texas subscribers ‹ sorry!).

(Those who really, really want to subscribe to a specific number of issues, or who just don't do e-commerce, may pay by check ‹ as many issues as you want at the regular subscription price per issue. Subscription forms will be available in downloadable format on the MOG website, and in the magazine.)

Online subscriptions are now being accepted at www.mogonline.com. Gift subscriptions are also available there.

For those who like to see what you're buying before you pay for it, PDFs from MOG #1 are posted at www.mogonline.com, so you can see exactly the depth and quality you can expect from future issues.

(MOG will not be offered immediately through traditional retail magazine distribution. However, retailers or distributors who wish to purchase copies in bulk for resale may contact wholesale@mogonline.com for terms.)

****** ABOUT INCANMONKEY GOD STUDIOS (AUSTIN, TEXAS) ******

For six years IMGS has made its name as the most respected production house for computer game strategy guides, particularly in massively multiplayer online games. IMGS has created successful and respected official guides for Ultima Online, EverQuest, Asheron's Call, Asheron's Call 2, Anarchy Online, Dark Age of Camelot and Earth & Beyond.

Now IMGS is leaving behind the strategy guide business, to concentrate exclusively on making "Massive Online Gaming" magazine *your* source for complete coverage of massively multiplayer online games.

Aden Siege - 2/23
Well, the first Aden siege is over and Ken was killed on Ken and Dep (Ken Rauhel prevailed on LoA). On Ken, Cerenis was killed early on, but Ken Rauhel lasted 1 hour and 4 minutes. Dep finished off Ken Rauhel about 20 minutes faster. Quite a few people were healing and hasting Ken Rauhel on both servers and almost any knight who got close enough to engage Ken Rauhel had to deal with more damage being dealt by other siege participants than Ken Rauhel himself.

I personally didn't expect anyone to win since there were so many people just screwing around and harassing others, but fortunately the efforts of those who were trying to do the right thing were rewarded :) (As an example, LordBalroq lost over 200% fighting Ken Rauhel - what a waste of time that would have been if the healing and hasting resulted in Ken Rauhel prevailing at the end!)

In the Aden siege, the siege ends immediately upon the death of Ken Rauhel (no defending) and the server announces the person responsible for killing Ken Rauhel. It is unclear if the winner is the one that deals the most damage or the one that deals the death blow. Regardless, on Ken server it was DEMONIAN of WestKnights and on Dep server it was BaekHo of 4EverGF.

There was also a theory that if you didn't declare, then none of your members could injure Ken Rauhel. However, some people sent me emails showing that they actually gained experience from Ken Rauhel's death, even though their pledge did not declare. So, perhaps that's not true.

On Ken server, neither Cerenis nor Ken Rauhel dropped any Armor Set items (or so they say! o.o) Perhaps those items are not implemented yet (or people are keeping it a secret for some reason)

More info from Dep and LoA to come and congrats to the winners!

FY 2002 numbers
Just doing some number crunching with the FY 2002 population numbers. This should not be used to make any interpretation of the financials or business viability of NC. Their profit numbers are a totally different story. :) These numbers are just to see how many people are playing the game.
  1. The US numbers don't include LoA server. We'll have to wait until 1Q 2003 numbers come out to see the impact, but I think we'll see that the US population has gone up a bit more than people expect.
  2. Good ^^: Between Sep 2002 and Dec 2002, the Lineage World has gained 3 servers (2 in Korea, 1 in Taiwan).
  3. Bad T_T: Total Global Dec 2002 Monthly Access is 2,875,853, down from 2,940,739 in Sep 2002 (down 2.2%). This loss is despite the growth of the US customers (+11.6%) and the Japanese customers (+9.3%).
  4. Good ^^: The Korean monthly access numbers dropped 6.3% from Sep-Dec 2001 vs 4.6% in Sep-Dec 2002. So, this may indicate an annual pattern of monthly access reduction between September and December. (Also shows that NC weathered the storm better in 2002 than 2001, which is good)
  5. Bad T_T: On the US servers, the ratio of daily access to monthly access has gone down from 0.539 to 0.506. This means that people are playing less on average.
  6. Good ^^: Based on these numbers, 0.35% of NC's Lineage customers play on US servers, up from 0.30% in September 2002.

Conclusion: On a scale of 0-10, where 10 is "Looks like Lineage is going to be the only game in the world!" and 0 is "Bail! Bail!", I would rate this report as 6.

GameSpy LoA ad
Forged noticed that if you go to http://www.gamespy.com, there's an ad for LoA in the right hand side of the main page! Clicking on the link takes you to a download page with this key selling point: "If you have never played an online game, or have tried but have been frustrated by the experience, this is the game for you." (Obviously referring to LoA server specifically)

ISP Maintenance
The ISP location serving Lineage US servers will be conducting maintenance on Monday, February 24th between 2:00 AM CST and 6:00 AM CST. During this time frame, there will be a minimum of two complete disconnects of service for the Lineage servers, with the possibility of additional disconnects. We will be providing in-game warning shortly prior to the disconnects, however as we do not know specifically what those exact times will be, we urge that special caution be taken by customers playing at this time. Customers playing on the servers during this time are urged to keep a close eye on the chat window to watch for messages about pending server disconnects.

Developers from Blizzard, eh? Sounds promising..

For Lineage, the future holds "initiating Part II, quality improvement and graphic upgrade".

One thing that has remained unchanged was that they still have console platform in 2003 in their chart, but we've heard nothing else about it.

Finally, the most important detail, US Lineage seems to be holding steady:

Einhasad's Respect
The cleric leaned upon his staff and let out a deep, tired sigh. His years were beyond counting and his body tired, though his mind was still sharp.

“Listen, good people of Aden, for the god of all good things has found favor in your brave deeds. Einhasad has taken notice of your valiant struggle against the Pretender King, Ken Rauhel, and his evil sorceress. Out of respect for your courageous actions, Einhasad offers you blessings and has sent this message of thanks and admiration. An enchantment will fall upon various creatures of the woodlands and swamps, both near and for. For a time, various bears, foxes, deer, and wild boar will have greater treasure. She only issues one commandment during this time… enjoy hunting!”

The gathered crowd let out a collective cheer as they raced to the town gates, weapons in hand, eager for unknown treasure.

This event will run from Friday, February 21st at 4:00 PM CST until Monday, February 24th at 10:00 AM CST. During this time, additional foxes, dear, bears, and wild boar will be spawning with extra adena and various other fantastic loot. We will be bringing down all US Lineage servers for a short reset at 10:00 AM CST on Friday, February 21st to prepare for this event.

March Madness 2003
Kind of Lineage related..

Every year in the United States, the NCAA (or college) basketball tournament occurs in March and is called "March Madness" because of the crazy fans who support their team. It is a single-elimination tournament with 5 rounds and 64 teams.

Most communities (offices at work, classmates at school) hold a little March Madness tournament where they pick what teams they think they will win. Each correct pick gives you a certain amount of points, and the person who has the most points wins.

Talking with a few people on global last month, we thought it would be a little bit of fun to hold a Lineage March Madness tournament, where everyone makes picks, pays a certain amount of adena and the winner takes home the pot.

Obviously, if you don't care about US College Basketball, this has no interest for you. To you I say, pretend this "news" post doesn't exist. :) On the other hand, if you're interested in learning about new things, this actually is kind of fun. :)

However, I wanted to get an idea of the interest in this. Originally we were thinking 100,000 adena entry fee with a different bracket for each server. I would hold on to the money during the tournament and the brackets would be update online often in our own little March Madness - Lineage Style section.

So, if you are interested, post here so I can see what you think. :)

Town Citizens
About 40 minutes ago, I suddenly got this message:

It appears that the first mayors were chosen today. A basic overview for those who need a recap. With Episode 12, you can now join a new town. Joining this town costs level * level * 10. Every Lineage month (5 real days - Lineage time is 6X) a mayor is chosen. The mayor is the person who hunts the most in your town. The mayor gets to set a tax rate (we're not sure exactly what this means -- what does the castle prince do then?) and citizens of the town get paid based on how much they hunt. Citizens also teleport home to their town, instead of the closest town.

So, I got that message (just my luck that I pick the town with the fastest leveller on the server) and I went to the Werldern town NPC to see how much my payment was, even though it wasn't a full week. My level 48 mage had hunted 1% since the update. This translated into 16 adena. HERC's share was 138 adena.

I guess that's not bad for 90 minutes of work (yes, I'm slow). Actually, I take that back, that IS bad for 90 minutes of work!

Anyway, HERC was nice enough to show us the "mayor's view" of the NPCs. In the screenshot on the right, you see his balance sheet. You see how much money to town generated and then a mysterious "Total income until now". HERC collected 384a for being mayor from this NPC as well.

On this screenshot, HERC is given the opportunity to choose the tax rate (he ended up picking 0). Notice the lack of instructions or explanation. HERC and I were both confused - we're sure all mayors are.

This could present an interesting decision for mayors -- if they raise taxes, then citizens get paid more, but everyone has to pay more for potions. If they lower taxes, citizens get paid less, but potions are their normal price. And how much does the tax set by the prince impact these things? We'll work on getting answers from NC. I had registered for Werldern earlier today and gained about 1% at level 48 hunting FV mops that day and my take was 16 adena.

Bans
Okay, proving that amateras is MUCH nicer than me, he suggested I make a quick post reminding everyone that being banned from the RL picture section would mean that you will be banned from future features of LC. I'm not going to tell you what he's hinting at, I want it to be a surprise. :)

So, consider yourself warned. Don't do something you will regret. ;)

Elf Spells Adjusted
Due to an error with Elven elemental magic, we have adjusted the spells on Elven characters to be set at the level prior to maintenance on the morning of Wednesday, February 19th. If you have an elf character, any new spells learned between 10:00 AM CST and 5:00 PM CST on the US Lineage servers have been cleared.

We have tracked characters affected by this situation, and appropriate spell crystals will be replaced in their inventory during the next regular scheduled server maintenance period.

Please note: No other changes have been made to the Elven characters. This change only affects learned spells.

Late-breaking issues with Episode 12: Aden have caused the publish to be slightly adjusted. Episode 12 is almost here
In a mere 9 hours, Episode 12 will have been released. I've updated the monster and item pages to include as much as we know about the new items, but there is much more to be done. So, when you guys are playing Episode 12, please think of us and snap a screenshot of your drops and identified items and email it in so we can complete the information :)

If you haven't seen from the lack of announcements - marriage and the trading system are not in this release (I've been saying this for a while, so has NC). They're probably working out the bugs, hopefully they'll be in Korean Test soon so we can see what its like. :)

2/19 - Episode 12 Publish to Live Servers
Lineage Episode 12: Aden will be published to all North American servers during the regularly scheduled 10:00 AM CST maintenance window on Wednesday, February 19th. All Lineage servers will be unavailable for approximately two hours while the update is completed. While the majority of Episode 12 content has already been patched in recent weeks, there will still be a substantial download (approximately 30 megs) for this update.

Episode 12 will include the following:

  • Geography
    • The capital city of Aden, located on the plane between the Forest of Mirrors and the Forest of Dawn. There are no teleporter NPCs into Aden, but teleporters offer outbound services.
    • The Great Castle of Aden
    • The Forest of Mirrors – an extension to the Heine Forest of Mirrors and Forest of Dawn, a forest in northwest Aden.
    • The Scar of Lindvior – a massive crater located between the Forest of Dawn and the Twilight Mountains. There be dragons ‘ere, laddie!
    • The Tower of Insolence – a massive tower dungeon for high level players. Teleportation is not allowed in this area.
    • Twlight Mountains – giants run amok in this area.
  • Experience Buyback
    • Players may buy back experience from their last death at a price based on the character level and alignment.
    • Players should travel to the Cathedral in Aden and speak with Agata to use this feature.
    • Experience loss upon death has also been changed.
  • Pledge Alliance System
    • A formal Pledge Alliance system will be introduced.
    • In order to be considered an Alliance Prince/ss, you must first successfully complete the Level 45 Prince Class Quest. An Alliance Prince/ss will be able to accept other Royals as pledge members; by doing so, they become the leader of an Alliance and in will be in charge of the Royals of multiple pledges.
    • A Prince/ss wishing to join an Alliance will give up all of their current Royal rights; they should make sure to clear their current pledge storage, since after joining the Alliance, their current pledge will no longer exist as it was, so that storage will no longer exist and any items in pledge storage at that time will be deleted.
    • Royals below Level 50 can have Alliance members up to 6 times their CHA; Royals Level 50 or higher can accept Alliance members up to 9 times their CHA.
    • Alliance members can be one of 4 different ranks:
      • Alliance Prince/ss

Head of the Alliance. Has the authority to confer fellow member titles and ranks. Capable of declaring a pledge war, and has every power that a Royal has. Alliance Prince/ss has additional abilities with the /pledge command. To set the rank of Alliance members, hold CTRL and double-click the member name listed in the pledge window; member does not have to be online to do so. Double-clicking on the member’s name when they are online directs a whisper to that member.

      • Guardian Knight

Highest ranking Alliance member. Has access to pledge storage without having to receive a title from the Alliance Prince/ss. Can use @ command for normal pledge communication and % command for upper-level Alliance communication between the Alliance Prince/ss and the Guardian Knights. Any class can be ranked as a Guardian Knight.

      • Ordinary

Regular Alliance member. Needs a pledge title from the Alliance Prince/ss to access pledge storage. Can use @ command to communicate with other Alliance members.

      • Apprentice

Honorary Alliance member. Have pledge emblem but are not considered to be a regular Alliance member. Cannot use pledge storage. Can see Alliance communication but cannot use the @ command to participate in Alliance chat.

    • Level 45 Prince Quest

Players must complete the level 15 and 30 prince/ess quests before attempting the level 45 quest. The NPC Marshall in Werldern town starts the quest.

  • Aden Castle

The Castle is initially in the hands of King Ken Rauhel. It will be defended by this Pretender King and the evil Sorceress Cerenis until taken by a group of players. A pledge must declare war before they can damage Ken Rauhel. The winning pledge is selected from among the pledges doing the most damage to the Pretender King.

To take the castle from a player owned pledge, a sieging pledge must first destroy at least two of the corner towers and then destroy the obelisk in the center. The crown may be siezed at this point.

Aden Castle redistributes all taxes on all castles within the Lineage game world. All castles will now receive a minimum guaranteed income and part of all castle tax will be paid out to the appropriate town residents as dividends under the hometown system.

  • Hometowns

The hometown system allows players to designate a hometown and participate in selecting a mayor for that town. Characters must be level 10 or higher to select a hometown by registering with the Village Manager. The fee is uses an approximate formula of Level * Level * 10.

Once a hometown is declared, the character will acquire contribution points by killing monsters based on the character level compared to the monster level. Contribution scores are tallied to elect a Mayor each week, who may then determine the town’s tax rate for the week. Characters who have declared a hometown will be paid a dividend from the Village Manager on the 25th of every in-game month.

Player’s with a registered hometown will escape to this area when using Escape Scrolls or upon restarting after death, unless the player belongs to a pledge owning a house or castle.

  • Misc
    • New monsters and items have been updated.
    • The drop rate of the skeleton skull has been increased.
    • Ettins attack has been modified: They may now attack up to range 2.
    • Cereberus is no longer tamable.
    • Random teleport will no longer work in Eva’s Temple.
    • Most monsters will now regenerate hit points. This should not significantly affect short-termed melee fighting.
    • Orim will now buy the Mystery Ball.
    • Some monster’s level and alignment have been adjusted slightly.
    • Dark Elves in the Level 30 Quest Dungeon have overhead names.
    • Many spells now have a light radius.
    • Call Clan spell has been enabled.
    • Prices of potions have been adjusted.
    • Confirmation window added to trade transactions.

Episode 12 tidbits from Korean Live servers

Lineage Playforum reports http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051003&kid=1847 that it looks like there are some Elven Magic delays on the Korean Live servers with the new Episode. It's unclear if its a bug or if its a new balance adjustment, but for some reason the delay after casting Blood to Soul and Nature's Touch is about 20 seconds. Elves find that they can't cast anything (including teleport!) within 20 seconds of casting those spells. Teleport home scrolls still work, but any magic isn't working. Hopefully this will be patched ASAP.

Another bug reported at http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051003&kid=1854 is that Earth Skin is not disappearing when elves change lines from Earth to Water. It looks like Earth elves go to Ivory Tower 2f, say they want to change to water, and Earth Skin isn't erased - they can even learn Nature's Touch and have a water elemental, while still retaining Earth Skin. This is likely a bug that will be fixed before Episode 12 gets released to the US.

Finally, a word about the doberman vs. husky tests at http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051021&kid=3534 that jailrune pointed to a few days ago. A few users on the Korean live servers did some duels between a level 12 husky (82HP) and a level 12 doberman (69HP). The husky won with 2HP, 32HP and 20HP. However, when they did tests on lizardmen, the doberman could kill the lizardman faster than the husky could. So, looks like the doberman is still the hunting champion. Kind of sounds like the CON knight vs. STR knight debate.

Lindvior
Lots of people have been sending in screenshots of their encounters with Lindvior. Here's a few stories which will hopefully give us some planning info on battling him. The basic facts are (1) he sits outside in the Scar of Lindvior and (2) he's passive. You have to hit him to get attacked :)

Ektay (Who provided the animation on the right) says that he did about 50HP damage on his level 46 elf with Resist Magic. Without Resist Magic, he would die in one hit - Lindvior delevelled him to 45. :)

Axo writes "He's relatively small size-wise compared to the other dragons. he's definitely the runt of the family. Lin uses a powerful lightning attack that either did 200 damage (5 times) or killed me meaning 240+ (4 times). so he does half health or full depending on which attack. One is a blue foggy breath which doesn't kill. the other is what resembles 4 call lightnings at the same time (illustrated in the SS). he's non aggressive which is odd. i am not quite sure as to why but so far he won't hurt you if you don't hurt him :P ...His "den" is easy to get to and the action of seeing his shadow and then him fall down was amazing.

Dias (Level 45, AC -51, MR 31%) whispered me in-game saying PRiM and Leggolas healed Dias while he 1:1 Lindvior for 27 minutes. He used 206 Counter Magic scrolls and 254 clears and saw Lindvior disappear into the air 6 times, but never ended up getting Lindvior low enough to die.

Test Server - Aden Siege 2/17
The first Aden siege is over. Ken Rauhel was victorious... he was never killed. It's probably due to the fact that Cerenis (the correct spelling.. for now) heals him! Fighting Ken Rauhel without killing Cerenis is an exercise in futility.

Here are some screenshots that basically represent what was going on -- Cerenis killing people, Ken Rauhel killing people. ^^

Nyse on Dep hits 52

The first word that comes to mind when thinking about NYSE is nice. Not just because they sound the same, but because they are the same. It is not very often that a level 52 character will stop to chat with you mid-hunt, but then again, its not often that you meet NYSE. [Silly Taera, NYSE is the New York Stock Exchange -amer]

NYSE is, as I said before, the newest level 52 knight on Dep. He has 18 constitution and 18 strength (he added both level up points to strength to get those nice, even stats) and sports a good attitude to go with his good play-style.

With hit points in the 600s and AC in the –60s, NYSE is quite the challenge to fight. He uses many different weapons, depending on what he is doing at the moment, ranging from his +9 Rapier for Oren Wasteland to +8 Tsurugi for Fire Valley to +9 blessed Katana which…sorta just sits in storage. Ah well.

NYSE hunts Oren Wasteland a lot because of the steady income of 15-25k. “Items are so expensive now. A couple of months o savings is spent in a few seconds!” He comments on his needs for money. Now, some might say that NYSE could do much better in places like Dragon Valley Cave or Fire Valley but there are just too many people there for his tastes.

NYSE doesn’t camp bosses, though he will stop and play around with Baphomet, the Caspa gang or drakes every now and then. “Camping bosses is a waste of time- the spawn time is totally random” He complains, though he does look forward to the new bosses of Episode 12.

NYSE would like to thank all the mages who heal him and hopes to see all the LC readers again at 53!

Where there are Wills, There are Ways
During lone hunts in Oren Wastelands on the Lands of Aden server, one may notice how very quiet the world may seem. In fact, silence prevails everywhere on LoA when hunting alone, away from town centers. The lack of global means that a remnant of chatter and shouts heard from your last trip to town may be carried, in your chat window, for several minutes to an hour, ever unchanging until your next encounter with civilization.

The silence may be broken by an occational message from NCI asking us to leave our arguments in game as we do our weapons and armor. Or warning us that NCI will never ask for our passwords. Or sagely offering that logging in does not mean tuning out the real world. But any form of global player chatter, up until today, did not exist on LoA.

What changed today?
Someone watching global, realized that there IS a small amount of actual player contribution to the window ... Bloodpledge war announcements. Wheels turned, sparks flew, and suddenly the LoA chat window was filled with players announcing trade over global. Will NCI call this abuse and silence the innovators? Likely. But this reported thinks it amazing what people will come up with when there is a need.

*The seller names in these screenshots are bogus, to protect the guilty. ;)

Droid gets off his butt! Aden revealed!
Aden has been released. Qwazin, Amer, Firewave and myself have been hard at work bringing you lot's of new content in the ep.12 before it hits the live server. While the others have been concentrating on catching those new bosses and testing the new drops I haven't really been that hard, I've been more sitting back and eating popcorn ;). Fortunately for everyone I've managed to put together a compilation of new bosses, monsters, areas and what have you. Sit back, enjoy and look at the pictures

First off since Aden orange potions prices have been changed to 200a. Confirmation from Captsturm revealed that they will be staying like this. Why? To generate more income for castles now that the new taxation system is in play.

The Aden Trading NPC will be here but right now it is currently inactive.

Being one of the ones to end the first Ancient Giant on test here's a quick little bit of info. He drops blessed and non blessed scrolls of enchant weapon and armor, a variety of gems, potions from condensed potions to blessed potions and also the Ancient Giant's Ring (which was not dropped first kill).

As Amer said before the Gelatinous Cubes are very easy to tame but also are very strong. Two Gelatinous Cubes can take down one Lava Golem a little bit slower then two King Bug Bears.

Giants in this episode don't generally drop well. Ranging from 100a-400a in drops they give fair experience which makes up for their low drops (I guess). As shown (from my experience) some hit harder then others. [We're still determining if this is just in Droid's mind, or if they're actually different -- as you know the Minotaurs with same name are different strength on FI, so he might be onto something.. -amer]

The husky is quite a foe when put in ring with a doberman. Coming at level 6 with an average 25 health points it can do from 4-12 damage on a elf with -1 AC. Its speed and walking compare well with a doberman, new favorite pet? I think so. [It's still not quite as strong as a dob -amer]

Currently Lindvior is spawning but at random times. He spawns in the Scar of Lindvior (located in Aden).

Aden sewers are exactly like Heine Dungeon except they have Gelatinous Cubes. You can use the sewers to go to the Tower of Isolence (convieniently named ToI on test).

Feel like taking a shot at Lindvior? Better read this before you go and lose some experience.

More to come.. ^^

Ancient Giant
Killing the Ancient Giant is the newest boss fad on Test Server lately. He spawns near the entrance to the Tower of Insolence at the far eastern section of the Twilight Mountains.

KILLA said that in his group, he took about 5 minutes to kill, and did about 100-200 HP per earthquake (and dropped 3 Potion of Bravery).

Punk4Life also killed him in a separate group, which a Scroll of Enchant Weapon dropped.

Banana did send us a drop list during his kill: Condensed Red Potions, Great Sword, Belt of Soul, Katana, Potion of Wisdom, Magic Gem, Greater Haste Potion, Diamond, Katana, Gloves, Blank Scroll (Level 4) and Blessed Scroll of Enchant Weapon.

There were definitely other drops, but no one has mentioned them :) We can assume it's the normal boss level drops -- highest quality gems, enchant scrolls, rings, belts, amulets. However, the special Episode 12 drop to keep an eye out for is the Ancient Giant Ring: AC -2, STR +1. No word if anyone got this on test yet, but that's a sweet ring :)

(Pictures will be posted in a few hours after some sleep and I get Photoshop working on this PC ;)

BananaRep: Level 52! (and Flippagea for some reason)

I was sitting in our cozy house near the Giran armor shop contemplating my own laziness in reporting, hunting, and just about everything else in life, when one of our many DK's teleported home. I didn't even bother to get up from my chair thinking it was Enhance, or something. Imagine my surprise when I came face to face with the newest Death Knight in our pledge: BananaRep.

BananaRep reached the coveted 52 about 3 weeks ago, which incidently shows you how lazy I really am,. He has -65 base AC, and a +8 Blessed Tsurugi. He went from 50-51 in 30 days, and from 51-52 a in gutwrenching 19 days only! At which point I'm sure he promptly fell asleep for a week. Banana is a Strength knight who added both of his points to Strength, on a knight that he made over a year ago. Banana also moonlights as the Prince of the Asura Bloodpledge, and would like to thank everyone who helped him reach 52. Joon, Moxxy, Bbknights, Ccgirl, Kusang, Sweetlady, Prohunterx, Mookhao, Lawrence, Outlawz, Sung, and many others whose names I wrote down, but can't read now because I drank to many beers. Congrats BananaRep!

ISP Maintenance
The ISP location serving Lineage US servers will be conducting maintenance on Friday, February 14th between 2:00 AM CST and 6:00 AM CST. During this time frame, there will be two complete disconnects of service for the Lineage servers.

Episode 12: First Look
Well, for starters, oranges are 200a instead of the usual 120a. This mistake has happened on test server before, so hopefully it won't happen to live. But beware!

We found the fastest way to get to Aden was to teleport to Heine and walk NE across the Forest of Mirror. There are now two types of Doppleganger there. Our old faithful level 19 Doppleganger which looks like a slime and then morphs to you. Then there's the "doppleganger-gone-awry" version on the right. It's passive to SOSC and appears to be around level 33.

On the far West of the Aden map, is where the bandits hang out. They appear to be passive. Bandits seem to travel in groups of 4, one of which is a Bandit Leader. Another one of the four is an archer, leaving two melee bandits. They killed my level 30 knight with -30AC really fast. Level-wise, it appears that the bandits are all in the 28-31 range and the Bandit Leader is in the 33-38 range. (Please email me with your level and the color of their name if you see them).

Almost everything north of Gypsy Town and the Twilight Mountains is occupied by Giants (there is also Gnoll, Fox, Werewolf, Lycanthrope, Lizardman, Goblin, Hobgoblin and Gremlin in the Forest of Dawn). The Giants (level 30) travel alone north of Gypsy town and are aggressive and very slow. In the Twilight Mountains, they are in packs. The screenshot on the left is of tamed Gelatinous Cubes (elves can tame them handily) attacking a Giant.

Cimaera [hopefully they'll fix the spelling on that] pelt is dropping from the Tower of Insolence as well, although there is no known item which requires it... yet ;)

2/13 - Episode 12 publish to US Test Servers
Test server players (and live servers when Episode 12 is published) we want screenshots of all your drops from new monsters which aren't in the drop guide as well as all your drops of new items. Help us! :)
The following has been published to the US Test Server on February 13th:

Lineage Episode 12 content has been updated. This includes the following:

Geography

  • The capital city of Aden, located on the plane between the Forest of Mirrors and the Forest of Dawn. There are no teleporter NPCs into Aden, but teleporters offer outbound services.
  • The Great Castle of Aden
  • The Forest of Mirrors – an extension to the Heine Forest of Mirrors and Forest of Dawn, a forest in northwest Aden.
  • The Scar of Lindvior – a massive crater located between the Forest of Dawn and the Twilight Mountains
  • The Tower of Insolence – a massive tower dungeon for high level players
  • Twlight Mountains – giants run amok in this area.
  • Experience Buyback
    • Players may buy back experience from their last death at a price based on the character level and alignment.
    • Experience loss upon death has also been changed.

Pledge Alliance System

Level 45 Prince Quest

Players must complete the level 15 and 30 prince/ess quests before attempting the level 45 quest. The NPC Marshall in Werldern town starts the quest.

Aden Castle

Aden Castle operates under slightly different siege rules than other Lineage castles. To control the castle, a bloodpledge must take over the throne located at the center of the castle. The altar upon which the throne is located is surrounded by a magical force field. To remove the field, characters must first destroy one of the four guardian towers located at the corners of Aden Castle.

Aden Castle redistributes all taxes on all castles within the Lineage game world. All castles will now receive a minimum guaranteed income and part of all castle tax will be paid out to the appropriate town residents as dividends under the hometown system.

Hometowns

The hometown system allows players to designate a hometown and participate in selecting a mayor for that town. Characters must be level 10 or higher to select a hometown by registering with the Village Manager.

Other changes

  1. New monsters and items have been updated.
  2. The drop rate of the skeleton skull has been increased.
  3. Ettins attack has been modified: they may now attack up to range 2
  4. Cereberus is no longer tamable.
  5. Random teleport will no longer work in Eva’s Temple
  6. Most monsters will now regenerate hit points. This should not significantly affect short-termed melee fighting

Killglance Ring Drop

For all you naysayers who believe that only the veteran strong players get all the rewards, there is a new kid in town. Literally! In what is believed to be the first Ring of Killglance drop on the Lands of Aden server, hails the all mighty elf Cantaur. By all mighty I of course mean level 20.

Coming to us from the lands of the United Kingdom, Cantaur has only been playing Lineage for just over month. On a routine materials gathering hunt for mithril arrows he randomly spotted an orc archer in the elven forest. Only unlike the usual crappy drop one expects from these orcs, to his amazement it instead dropped the now infamous ring.

Being new, no noticeable effects have been noticed, but as time goes on we will keep you updated to its changes. I will of course be the first to report when this lucky elf gets ogres blood and belt from some random slime he kills.

Episode 12: Bandits and Tower of Insolence 2-3f
Jude1004.com and Lineage Playforum have been posting some hunting tips on the various areas in Episode 12.

Bandits

Jude1004.com (http://lineage.jude1004.com/news/index.asp?pg=/news/view.asp&cts_id=4470) posts that hunting Bandits is the difficulty of Dragon Valley and the experience of Fire Valley beach. The Bandits are usually in groups and the report emphasizes that you can't keep up with potions if you are in the midst of a Bandit group.

Omen Tower 2-3f

All monsters in Tower of Insolence 2-3f are passive to SOSC except for the Dire Wolf, so SOSC is a necessity when hunting there. However, it by no means makes you safe, as there can be large accumulations of Dire Wolf to deal with.

It is also recommended that you carefully time your SOSC, renewing it just before it expires. If you have to restart in the Tower, you will end up in town -- and it's a long walk to get back to the Tower.

A popular hunting party is to take two elves and a knight. The knight will draw one monster at a time using a call lightning wand, while the elves hit it from a distance. The Tower of Insolence monsters only target the first attacker, so the elves are kept out of harm's way with this method.

On the right is a picture of 0Hercules0, level 67 knight, hunting with his party in the higher levels of the Tower of Insolence.

Episode 12: Alliance System
Lineage - Korea provided some details on how alliance rankings will work (https://bbs.lineage.co.kr/lineage/new_announcement/pre_lin_contents/read.asp?ListNum=24&PageNum=1).

There are two levels of pledge chat available in an alliance. First, there is elite chat (%) and an alliance chat (@). Elite chat can only be used by the alliance prince and any members that the alliance members specifically designates as elite.

Regular members can only communicate on alliance chat (@). They cannot see elite chat at all. Both regular and elite members can access the alliance storage.

New members can hear alliance chat (@), but cannot speak on it. They can also not access alliance storage.

You may be wondering, what happens to pledge chat when a pledge joins an alliance? Well, based on this system, when a pledge joins an alliance, the pledge completely dissolves. Pledge chat does not exist in an alliance -- there is only elite alliance chat and regular alliance chat. In fact, if the prince leaves the alliance, all his members still in the alliance.

From this we can see who alliance is meant for. Alliance has great appeal to pledges with multiple divisions with dummy princes only there to hold more members -- most large pledges end up doing this and naming their divisions in a similar way (Pledge, PledgeElite, PledgeNewbies). This should be great for them, as only one prince is needed to hold these people together and no need to level up a fake prince to 25, just so he can declare war.

However, it seems very undesirable when two separate, unique and strong pledges just want to work together.

Pass the Tissots!

I always knew that mages were the best class, and Tissot of Dep just goes to prove it. On January 18th, after nearly a year of being level 49, hit the big 5-0.

Even with all spells (all but Decay Potion, that is) in the game, 18 intelligence/18 constitution stats, 459 HP and 382 MP the journey to 50 was a hard one. Tissot died about six times at level 49, and more then he can count at 48!

So what is Tissot’s plan now that he has reached level 50 on a mage? Is he going to go for 52, or will he go for another 50 character? Neither, actually. Tissot’s current game plan is to get himself 20 million so he can get some better AC!

Where is Tissot going to find 20 million? In his secret hunt spots, of course! And where are these spots? “Anywhere with passive MOPs” Tissot comments. Just goes to show you that you don’t need big fish to make the catch of the day.

Tissot has a lot to say about spells. First of all, the only spell he is missing is Decay Potion, and that’s because prices are too high. For an example, if someone tells him 20k for something, he says 19k. If they say no, so does he. His least favorite spell is Cancel Magic. He even went so far as to say that cancel is “evil”…that’s very odd, for a mage! “I regret I learned some spells,” was his last comment. The reason for this is that Tissot is a bit clumsy and often hits the wrong key. That sounds familiar…oops.

Congratulations to Tissot who once again shows that mages rock (by the way, Tissot would like to point out that he's not a 'Freak Mage': a strength mage or charisma mage. Magic all the way!). In advice to the wee mages out there Tissot has two words: “Hunt safe.” And boy, is that good advice!

Episode 12 Armor Sets
Lineage - Korea has the new Episode 12 armor sets detailed (https://bbs.lineage.co.kr/lineage/new_announcement/pre_lin_contents/read.asp?ListNum=25&PageNum=1):

Kerenis Armor Set - Bonus AC 2, +100 MP, morph to Kerenis, mage only

Ken Rauhel Armor Set - Bonus AC 3, morph to Ken Rauhel, prince only

The page also mentioned some details of sieging Aden:

  1. You have to kill Kerenis first -- if you don't and she sees that Ken Rauhel's HP is down to 40%, she will full heal him. :)
  2. If you do manage to get rid of Kerenis and Ken Rauhel, they won't make another appearance during that siege time.

It's Raining Water Elves

Last week, yet another elf on Ken hit level 50. This time, it's Eveliin, a member of Shaolin.

Eve has been playing since the beginning of Ken server and I have personally known him for almost 2 years now.

Eve is a 17 CON, 14 DEX elf that just loves to level. In the old days before Gentile, Eve had another elf: This elf reached 49.56 (before many were 48) and many of Eve's friends all thought he would be first level 50 of the server. Unfortunately, 6 months ago, disaster struck -- his elf died several times due to disconnects from lag. This is what caused him to make Eve. Since then, Eve has been working to get to 50, suffering 3 deaths on 49, 1 from siege and 2 from disconnects. He has finally met his goal.

When I asked why he kept going, he just answered "its fun, if we didn’t d/c so much it would be more fun."

After talking a bit more we discussed his stats. This isn’t very normal, so I asked why he had chosen those stats. He said: “I like them”. I asked for more detials and he told me the bigger theory behind them.

With 14 DEX, DEX amulet, Bless of Elm and DEX spell, he has 21 DEX and that (according to NC) is a +1 damage bonus for bows.

Also unlike most CON elves, he is a water elf with a small time as a wind elf from 49.70% to 50.00%.

Eveliin likes to hunt Fire Valley (not just the beach, but all over). He hunts this with +9xbow and a nice –51 AC base. While leveling from 49-50 he gained around 1-3% a day, depending on how long he played. The best he got was 5.5% on 1 day, using silver arrows and no wafers. His proudest possession is his +9xbow - a bow made by Maniac (a pledgemate and level 50 knight we reported on earlier). In fact, he does not regularly use Wafers to hunt - he said they "sure make a difference". Obviously, not enough to use them though ;)

When I asked him will you go on to level 51, he said:
“Maybe or maybe not, I might even go level my other elf to 50 now”

His other elf is still close to 50, so maybe soon we will have 2 level 50 elves from 1 player ^^

Last words from Eveliin were:

“I think I’m sleeping, having a nice dream, I still can’t believe I did it”

“I want to thank all Shaolin members and my first princess Whimsy… I hope I remember it right”

“To NCI I don’t want to say anything, -.- too many lag deaths for me”

Aden Siege video
update: Hopefully the MPEG link is fixed now. If you are still having problems, please email me so I can try to determine the issue. For some reason certain people seem to be unable to get onto the FTP site at all..
NC - Korea has posted a video of the Test Server Aden Sieges on their website. The video is about 5 minutes long and is taken by a GM, which is neat by itself since you get to see them walk through people and see other players/GMs that are supposed to be invisible. :)

The video is 5 minutes long, half of it is the first non-PvP Korean Test server siege (players siege NPCs defending castle) and half of it is one of the PvP Korean Test server sieges (players siege other players defending castle). Also, Ken Rauhel and Kerenis kill lots and lots of people.

They're big, so beware.

Episode 12 Live (Part 2)
clarification: Not every item Nue found which we translated earlier today is part of the Episode 12 announcement. The Aden coin and Ancient Scale Mails are *not* something NC has announced, they are just in "concept" form right now. The only announced new items are the ones in THIS post. Thanks ^^
So, to review, here are all the parts of Episode 12, which was published to Korean Live Servers today, 2/5. (There's some new stuff, so read)
  1. Aden Siege

The Castle of Aden, the largest castle in Aden, has a new siege system involving multiple towers and a central tower. In addition, if you are the pledge which is defending Aden, it is possible that Ken Rauhel and Kerenis will lead their army of Kurtz and the Black Knights to invade your castle, in addition to the existing threat by other pledges. Yes. NPCs will siege.

  2. Aden Town

Aden City is an enormous city which includes Aden Castle in it's boundaries. You will also be able to purchase two floor pledge houses in Aden City.

  3. Tower of Insolence

While only 10 floors of the Tower of Insolence are currently accessible, complete with new monsters we've already covered and the Lich boss on floor 10, the Tower of Insolence will eventually have 100 floors!

  4. Hometown System

Players will (for a small fee) be able to choose a hometown and compete to be mayor of that town. The mayor will receive special town privileges.

  5. Alliance System

Royals, who have passed the level 45+ Alliance quest, will now be able to communicate with allied pledges using the new alliance system. Alliance leaders can invite pledges to join their alliance (up to a limit on total size based on CHA). Then, the royal can assign ranks to each pledge member.

Pledge members can be one of 4 ranks. The highest rank is reserved for the Alliance leader. The next rank is for members granted the ability to speak on Alliance chat (use % for alliance chat). Royals will be able manage all this from the /pledge menu.

  6. Experience Buyback

Players can buy back experience from their last death (only once) at the price of level * level * 100 (if level 1-44) and level * level * 200 (if level 45+).

Those prices are for players with 0 lawful. Chaotic players will get a higher price and lawful players will get a discount. It will be proportional to your lawfulness. Full lawful players get 1/2 off. Full chaotic players will get 2x the price. Everyone else will fall somewhere in between.

  7. Lindvior

Lindvior, the fourth of the elemental dragons, will spawn in a special area marked on the Aden map as "Scar of Lindvior".

  8. New Items

Two posts below this are Nue's pictures of some of these items, but here is the list of new items:

    • Titan's Belt - increases weight capacity by "50%".
    • Lich Robe - AC 3, +50 MP, MP regen increase
    • Shield of Medusa - AC 2, +5% MR
    • Minotaur Axe - 12/14, Hastes wearer
    • Ancient Giant Ring - AC 2, +1 STR
    • Ken Rauhel Set - Prince only armor set, AC 3 set bonus, morphs you into Ken Rauhel.
    • Kerenis Set - Mage only armor set, AC 2 set bonus, morphs you into Kerenis.
(Note: we've heard nothing special about the speed of Ken Rauhel or Kerenis to be challenge the level 50+ morphs, it's probable that Baphomet/Beleth will still remain faster in speed and Death Knight will still be a superior all-around morph)

  9. New Game Updates

    We posted this below. ;)

Yosshi - Ken's newest level 52 knight
There's always a bit of anticipation when I go to interview someone who is level 52 that I haven't met before. Are they nice? Are they going to say no and subject me to a week of "How come you haven't interviewed such and such" in the comments? Are they going to insult LC? Do they even know what LC is? Do they think level 52 is the biggest deal in the world and LC is just not worthy of their precious time?

All these worries were quickly dispelled when I whispered Yosshi for an interview -- he's a nice, modest guy who will take a few minutes to help a fansite which just wants to ask a few questions. If only everyone would be so easy to talk to! I'm glad to have met him, even though we've obviously been strangers for quite awhile. He's managed to lay low and we totally missed when he hit level 50, or even 51.

Yosshi is an independent contractor which specializes in networking. Cisco CCNA to be specific. Independent contracts are busy when they have contracts, but in between contracts they get lots of free time. Enough to play Lineage and make a level 52 character!

To avoid the crowds in Fire Valley, Yosshi spends most of his time in the place that we used to have to hunt for experience - Dragon Valley. It seems like every single non-siege fight on the message boards these days (especially on Ken) are about some throw down or misunderstanding with which mop belongs to who in Fire Valley. Yosshi isn't a big arguer, so he prefers the peace and quiet of busting bones and exoskeletons in Dragon Valley.

He's a 17/17 knight which hunts with Tsurugi and Rapier - no surprise with the weapon choice ;) He had a Mail Breaker, but blew it at 51 after dying to a boss. Blowing his Mail Breaker was his way of stopping himself from hunting bosses, which are largely a waste of time if you are trying for level 52. He added +1 to both STR and CON (he likes balance I guess ^^) and is now 18/18. Include his Power Gloves and Amulet of Strength and you get his fighting strength, 21/18.

38 MP at level 52. That's right. 38 MP. It's all Fafurion's fault though - Yosshi kept getting killed by Fafurion and delevelling. He doesn't have anything to show for it except for the shared drops.

Yosshi died 12 times between level 49 and 52 and it took him about 7 months to do it. Yosshi also has a mage -- Mosshi, a level 48 summon mage which earned him the money for his AC and weapon back in the days when owning a summon mage was like printing adena.

What's next for Yosshi? Well, hopefully he gets another contract and keeps up his CCNA. In the meantime he wants the glory of blowing a recognizable item, growing his pledge, hunting bosses, sieging -- all those things that you can't do when you're eye is on the level 52 prize.

Yosshi wants to thank his pledge, FinalFantasy for keeping him full of braves, supporting his goal and spell ups and all the mages and elves who healed him, earth-skinned him and blessed his weapon in DV.

And also, thanks to his girlfriend for putting up with his late hours and understanding his goal. He promises to spend more time with her..

I can totally relate. ^^ Thanks Yosshi and congrats -- you deserve it.

Media Guide
I added a "Media Guide" page which has a list of all links that we've posted on LC about Lineage (1, not 2) as well as some others I have come across as well as a few videos. This should serve as a pretty good archive for anyone looking for articles about Lineage. If I've missed any, send me an email! :)

LoA Comes of Age (updated with interview)
Marking an important point in the history of LoA server, 911, Mercenaries knight on Lands of Aden server, has reached level 50.

And not only is he the first on LoA, he's also must have set some kind of record, as he did it in *under* 2 months. Congrats and a welcome to the LoA server to the LC Hall of Fame.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no wait it’s a crazy Baphomet! Only one man would dare to use Baphomet during a death knight morph event and that man is 911 from the Lands of Aden server. Why would someone use this morph when there is a clearly superior morph available? Because 911 is the very first level 50 player on the Lands of Aden Server, sporting an incredible -8xac and +8tsurugi, this awesome knight gains 8 or 9 % a day.

He died three times since turning level 49 but that didn’t get him down because on the Lands Of Aden Server the loss at death is 5-6%. 911 feels that the drops are better on LoA then on Depardieu or Ken Rauhel and is much easier. He is still very proud to be the first level 50 knight for the server and intends to keep going to level 52, but won’t gain as much because he has school now.

At the start of the server, when everyone was trying to build of knights, 911 and his friends made mages and used them to slay Ifrit many times, to get top quality diamonds for their tsurugis, giving them an advantage over other pledges. After a death to phoenix, 911 tried to blow all his items starting with his tsurugi, making it +8. He then stopped and decided to continue leveling, even though he never intended to get to level 50 when he started LoA.

For those of you interested, 911 was Paradoxx on the Ken Rauhel server and PK99 on the Depardieu and Test servers. Even though he is the first level 50 knight on the LoA server, that hasn’t made him cocky, well, any more cocky than usual. He has many people to thank including: PK Family, Mercenaries Pledge, GG pledge, and a very big special thanks to Quest. “I don't want to leave anyone out but if I did, sorry, you won't be forgotten in the long run.”
