A First Glance at Turtle Island
Lands of Aden players who are level 30 and under now have a new, "safer" playground. Turtle Island can be accessed by visiting Pandora (on Talking Island) to purchase a Return to Turtle Island Scroll.

Upon using the scroll, a player may be momentarily disoriented, for Turtle Island looks very much like Talking Island. "Did it work?" Ah yes, there is nothing but a bare patch of grass where normally stands the storage dwarf. In fact, there are no shopkeepers of any kind in Turtle Town.

Upon exiting town, one will find even more differences between Turtle Island and Talking Island. Turtle Island is thriving with a slightly different variety of mops. On a stroll around the beach, I came across plentiful Werewolves, Goblins, Orc Fighters, Wizards and a few Scouts (ouch), Alligators, Imps and Imp Elders, Eidons, Skeletons, Stone Golems, Dobermans, Turtles, Crabmen, Floating Eyes, Bears, Gnolls and more. I also heard whispered rumors of Crustaceans which spawn on the beach, though I did not have opportunity to see one.

Other than players and mops, the island town and beaches are well patrolled by Guards and Rangers, though there is little need. Turtle Island is strictly a non-pk zone. As i wandered the shoreline counterclockwise, I did come across a well-guarded combat zone. The usual dungeon areas of Talking Island are nothing but solid cliffs on Turtle Island however.

Topographically (I could be wrong at first glance) I do believe Turtle Island is the same as Talking Island. Slightly northwest of the empty dock and empty Pandora beach area (there is no Pandora on Turtle Island) is a tiny wl surrounded with mature green trees. I don't remember if greenery such as this is identical on Talking Island, but after another pass or two to both islands we'll be able to say for sure.

We'll post more information as our reporters further explore Aden's newest land.

Japan's Level 50+ Hall of Fame
Look, we inspired someone! :)

Maji, a Japanese Lineage player, has created a Hall of Fame for the 6 Japanese servers, and it looks like it's much more complicated as it has almost 5x as many level 50+ as we do!

Very cool! JP Lv50+ Hall of Fame

Cerenis Wallpaper
update: Macorn just emailed me a fourth background for the set, this one is a 1280x1024 of Ken Rauhel, Cerenis and a guard. I added it to the package.
Macorn aka MacFly aka Eorlingas took a few stills from the recent Part II: Episode 1 video and made some really nice backgrounds (2 @ 1024x768 and 1 @ 1280x1024) for us to all use. Now that's one good lookin' mage!

Server Publish 7/30
The US Lineage servers will be brought down for a brief maintenance and publish on Wednesday, July 30th at 10:00 AM CDT. The contents of this publish will include the following:

All servers:

  • Resource files for the next Lineage episode.

Please be aware that this download will be several megabytes in size, and episodic content will continue to be published to the servers gradually over the next few weeks to prevent the episode release from being one large download on the day of the episode publish. These resource files will not be available within Lineage as playable items or areas until the release of the next episode.

Lands of Aden server:

  • Turtle Island, a non-PvP zone for players up to Level 30, has been added.
  • HP and MP regeneration in pledge houses has been increased.
  • Spell effect for Paagrio’s Hatred has been reverted to the original spell graphic.
  • Various NPC text errors have been corrected.
  • Level restriction for Health Potions has been corrected to meet the level restrictions for the New Player Areas.

Player Story Submissions
Have a knack for story-telling and the desire to share your tales of adventure in Lineage?

Submit your Lineage player story! Stories will be chosen based on their relevant portrayal of the Lineage world and/or characters and adventures. The author’s real or character name (depending upon their preference) will be displayed with the story on our site.

Please use the following guidelines for submissions:

  1. The story must reflect something related to Lineage; for example, a tale of a pledge hunt, an adventurer’s diary entry, or an amusing tale of what not to do when hunting monsters. Recommended word length for submissions is 1000 words or less.
  2. The story must not be sexually offensive, racially offensive, in bad taste or violate the Lineage User Agreement in any other way.
  3. Please include a screenshot to be posted with your story. The screenshot should relate to the story in some manner, or can be a picture of your main Lineage character.
All visitors to the Lineage web site will be able to read this story and see the name of the author that submitted it – so this is your chance to display your literary talent!

Submissions should be entered via our Support Tool using the “Ask a Question” tab. Please be sure to select “Screenshots and Player Stories” under the Department tab and then attach your image file for the screenshot and text document for the story to the submission. Please be sure to include your real name, and a character name and server to which the story may be credited. All submissions become the property of NCsoft and may be used for advertising or promotional purposes.

The deadline for this round of Player Story Submissions is Monday, August 11th.

Phantasm Island
Phantasm Island is the only place in Lineage where you can find Elixirs, special potions which permanently increase your base stats by +1. You can have 5 elixirs per char and you cannot exchange them. Phantasm Island is actually five different areas, each with their own element and boss.
ElementLocationBossMonsters
FireNortheastGreat Ball of Fire*Fire Egg, Salamander
WaterNorthwestGreat Spirit of WaterIce Man, Ice Golem
WindSouthGreat Spirit of WindKiller Bee, Ball Lightning
EarthCentralGreat Spirit of EarthCrazy Rabbit, Guardian Armor
"The Rest"UnknownNightmareUnicorn, Fungus, Dreamweaver
*Okay, some creative license taken with the translation ;)

  • Dreamweaver - white ball of energy

  • Dark Boots = -2 AC, +1 DEX
  • Silvery Cloak = -2 AC, +15% MR
  • Damascus Double Sword = 14/8
  • Damascus Claw = 16/14
  • Dark King Crossbow = 4/3, +1 hit, +2 damage
  • Dark King Claw = 16/14, +3 damage
  • Dark King Double Dword = 13/10, +2 hit, +2 damage
  • Gauntlet = 2/2, +1 hit

"Bring Stone" Item Creation System There are 5 levels of stone. Each stone can be "upgraded" to the next level of stone, but with a chance of "blowing" the stone, just like the existing weapon enchantment system, however, success of Bring Stone depends on your WIS and Level.

There is no good English translation for the stones, so we'll call them by letter and color for now:

Grey (A) -> Purple (B) -> Red (C) -> Blue (D) -> Orange (E)

Grey (A) stones can be found on the ground like Elemental Stones are (not the same place, obviously).

Here are some items that can be created in Silence Cave (home of the Dark Elves) using the Bring Stone system:

  • Dark Double Sword = 100 (B), 10 Iron, 20 Hard Leather
  • Dark Claw = 100 (B), 5 (C), 10 Iron, 10 Hard Leather
  • Dark Bow = 100 (B), 10 (C), 10 Iron, 30 Hard Leather
  • Dark Light Double Sword = 1 Dark Double Sword, 100 (C), 5 (E), 10 Iron, 20 Hard Leather
  • Dark Light Claw = 1 Dark Claw, 100 (C), 10 (E), 10 Iron, 10 Hard Leather
  • Dark Light Bow = 1 Dark Bow, 100 (C), 20 (E), 10 Iron, 30 Hard Leather
  • Silvery Double Sowrd = 1 Dark Double Sword, 50 (B), 20 (C), 1 (E), 1 Diamond, 10 Iron, 20 Hard Leather
  • Silvery Claw = 1 Dark Claw, 40 (B), 30 (C), 1 (E), 1 Diamon, 10 Iron, 10 Hard Leather

7/24 Lineage - US visit!
LC Reporter Morticae visited NC HQ in Austin, Texas for us over in LC. Check out his report here: ^^

Morticae's Adventure at Lineage-US HQ

[update]: And then Kyzah sends me this email:

One slight correction on Morticae’s report:

“They don't have any level 50+ which I found surprising, though there are a couple 49s apparently (not sure which server).”

Actually, we do. Me. :)

7/24 - Korean Test Server update
The following updates (https://bbs.lineage.co.kr/lineage/new_announcement/pre_lineage/read.asp?ListNum=129&NoticeID=1&PageNum=1) are announced for the Korean Test server on 7/24:
  1. Tower of Insolence Teleport Runes now work from the first floor instead of being restricted to the circle on the 10th floors, mentioned earlier (http://www.lineagecompendium.com/addcomment.php?newsid=1629)
  2. If player A attacks player B and player B attacks player A, it would initiate an autoduel. This has been removed.
  3. If you die or restart on the Tower of Insolence, you are returned to 1f.
  4. Every x6 floor on Tower of Insolence (6, 16, 26, 36, 46) has increased HP/MP regen rate.

7/16 - Dark Elf base stats changed
Lineage Playforum reports (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=4568) that the base stat distribution for the Dark Elf class had been adjusted on 7/16. Compared to last time, a point has been removed from CHA, WIS and INT and added to the pool for player distribution.

Below is the new initial Dark Elf creation screen.

I can't say for sure, but it looks like players will now be able to create CON 18 or STR 20 Dark Elves.

Dark Elf ER/HP/MP gains
Lineage Playforum reported (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=4570) that the ER bonus was added to the Dark Elf class (same as elves) on 7/16:

Here is the complete chart:
ER values by class
Prince+1 per 8 levels
Knight+1 per 4 levels
Elf+1 per 6 levels
Dark Elf+1 per 6 levels
Mage+1 per 10 levels

Also, for people interested in the HP/MP of the Dark Elf class, a level 31 Dark Elf (CON 11, WIS 8) was shown in this article with 236 HP and 108 MP. That's ~7.5 HP and ~3.5 MP per level. That works out to also be the same as existing elf/prince level gains (when compared with equal CON/WIS)

Veteran Questions
It’s time for the next round of Veteran Questions!

What is a Veteran Question?

A Veteran Question is generally considered to be a detailed, in-depth question about the game that players are unable to answer themselves through the course of normal gameplay, or from consulting the official Lineage website, fansites, or their fellow players.

For example:

“From your spell guide, it says that Curse: Poison is a Water element spell. Scorpions seem to cast the same poison that Curse: Poison does -- that is, the effects are the same (1-4 HP loss every 2-3 seconds). It seems to be a natural assumption that wearing 2 Ring of Water Resistance would reduce the probability of a successful Poison attack by Scorpion, however it seems to have no effect. Is the Poison of Scorpions a different element?”

This is the sort of question that will necessitate us to consult with our QA and Development Teams, both in Austin and in Seoul, to answer.

Please keep the following guidelines in mind before posting:

  1. Submit only two questions. As the question-taking will be open for a week, please take some time to come up with your questions; if you wish for further clarification on a past Veteran Question, feel free to make that one of your two questions.
  2. We will only be answering 10-15 questions per round of Veteran Questions, so please take care not to duplicate already-asked questions from past rounds.

The question-taking will end on Tuesday, July 29th. Question submissions should be entered via our Support Tool using the “Ask a Question” tab. Please be sure to enter “Veteran Questions” into the Subject line, and include your character name and a server to which your question may be credited.

The Sword Of Hatred
I thought I had already posted this :)

TheEbonhand is the first person on LoA server to create the Paagrio's Hatred sword (on July 8.
This weapon requires 5 red dragon scales, 1 great sword, and 30 ash of Astagio.

It is slightly heavier than the rapier, yet lighter than a tsurugi. Dealing slightly better damage to large monsters than a rapier. It is not as good as a tsurugi except for the special earthquake, which is totally random. This earthquake shakes the screen and deals from 60 to 100 damage. The +4 hit bonus also makes it stand out among the more commonly used swords, possibly making this sword a damage dealing version of the mailbreaker.

Paagrio's Hatred can only be created on the Lands Of Aden server.

Server Publish 7/23

The US Lineage servers will be brought down for a brief maintenance and publish on Wednesday, July 23rd at 10:00 AM CDT.

  • KillGlance’s Ring will now provide the Beagle polymorph when equipped*; those characters wearing the ring during the reset will have the ring unequipped after the publish.

* Changes to the attributes of KillGlance’s Ring are not normally announced unless such changes may possibly have a negative impact on gameplay if unexpected.

Episode 13 Item Drops
A couple of days ago, Lineage Playforum posted (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=4526) some drop/miscellaneous information on various Episode 13 Dark Elf items. I'll integrate all this into the item guide as soon as I can get to it. :)

Dark Items*

  • Dark Robe - Spartoi - safe to +6, increased HP regen
  • Dark Cloak - Zombie/Orc Zombie - safe to +4, +30 HP
  • Dark Boots - Dark Elves - safe to +6, +1 DEX
  • Dark Headband - Stone Golem - safe to +4, increased MP regen
  • Dark Gloves - Skeleton Archer - safe to +4, +2 bow hit
* We've also been calling these items (for example) Shadow Robe and Robe of Darkness, we'll use the format "Dark Robe" going forward for consistency (until the final name is decided by Lineage - US)

Other Dropped Items

  • Brass Blades (fka Copper Blades): Stone Golem
  • Steel Claw: Lizardman, Owlbear, Orc Zombie, Skeleton Archer

Level 1 Spells

  • Blind Hiding: Zombie, Spartoi, Orc Archer, Skeleton Archer, Skeleton
  • Bring Stone: Level 15 Quest
  • Enchant Venom: Orc Fighter, Orc Zombie, Skeleton, Skeleton Archer
  • Shadow Armor: Werewolf, Orc, Lizardman

Quest Items

  • Shadow Mask - Level 15 Quest, safe to +6
  • Shadow Gloves - Level 30 Quest, safe to +6, +1 CON
  • Shadow Boots - Level 45 Quest, safe to +4, +50 HP

Many of these items seem to be dropping from newbie monsters, but we have yet to see what drops the level 2 and 3 spells, or the Dark Light/Dark King items. Clearly, the design is that there are three important chapters in the life of a Dark Elf.. the level 15 chapter (level 1 spells, Dark items), the level 30 chapter (level 2 spells, Dark Light items) and the level 45 chapter (level 3 spells, Dark King items).

    Q&A with Darkwing
It’s Q&A time again, this time with Darkwing!

The next Q & A has started! This is your chance to ask questions of a specific NCsoft-Austin Lineage team member. This session’s subject is Darkwing, Lead QA Tester for the US Lineage Live Team.

The guidelines to remember before starting:

    1. Post only two questions; there are bound to be repeats, and we are only taking about a dozen or so.
    2. The questions need to be directed toward the subject person and their duties. This isn't the same as the Veteran Questions, since it is not to answer specific gameplay questions. It is a chance for you to interact with this particular person and ask them something about their duties / position / department.

The question thread will be closed on Thursday, July 24th and is located here.

    Server Publish 7/16
The US Lineage servers will be brought down for a brief maintenance and publish on Wednesday, July 16th at 10:00 AM CDT.

    • Many existing two-handed weapons have been improved.
    • Corrected a visual error in the spell effect for Paagrio’s Hatred.
    • A new magical weapon is now available: Eva’s Scorn (Royal/Knight/Elf-only); this weapon will have a random chance of doing a “direct damage” magical attack similar in appearance, but not in functionality, to an existing spell. Eva’s Scorn has been added as a rare drop from certain underwater creatures.

    Level 67 Elf - NightSkyElf
NewsPos reports (http://www.newspos.com/Content.asp?tb=writer&ob=news&seqs=108&page=1&pb=N) that Korea's Hardin server is home to the highest level elf in the world, NightSkyElf, who recently hit level 67.

His goal is to reach level 76, where he will have base stats of 25 STR and 25 DEX. He fights with a nice +10 Yumi and Ancient Sword.

7/10 - Korean Test Server updates
Lineage Playforum reported (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=4530) on the following Test Server updates posted to the Korean Test servers on 7/10:
    1. Inside the castle HP/MP regenerates faster.
    2. Floating Island is now a Safety Zone except the bridges, which are Combat Zones so you can't block people.
    3. Dark Elf-only weapons have changed a little bit. (Sting projectile weapons now weight 1/10th of their previous weight)
    4. Dark Elf store items (items you can buy in the store) have had their level restrictions lifted.. ex) Damascus Claw minimum level was 30, but now has no level restriction. Also, NPCs will now purchase Dark Elf Spirit Crystals based on the level: 250, 1000 and 2500.
    5. Head of Orc Elder can now be erased from your inventory.

Also, in this report, PF Reporter Encia received an Elixir (STR) from a Dreamweaver on Phantasm Island. The Elixir couldn't be traded or dropped, weighed 20 and added +1 STR with no text in the chat window or anything.

    Correction: Episode 13 False Alarm
See what happens when I visit Korean sites without checking with amateras first?

A few days ago, we posted that Episode 13 was coming on July 18. This is incorrect. Here's the real news (thanks to amateras):

NC is opening up 2 Event Servers (in Korea) for the period of July 18 - August 5. During this time, players will experience Episode 13 with a 5x drop rate, 2x XP until level 30 and increased boss spawn rate. 2500 players will be rewarding with T-Shirts and in-game items. However, there is in fact no mention of the actual release of Episode 13 in this new post. Sorry everyone :(

It's not every day I get the opportunity to embarass people I know.. Okay, well that's not true. I get to do that every day. But anyway, here's another opportunity. LC Reporter who always stirs up trouble, caretaker of the HoF, notorious devil's advocate and college student from Californian, Dlirk, has reached DK. I'm sure many of you are wondering why this even belongs on the front page, and I'm sure you'll all have nasty things to say about it in the comments. ;) However, he does indeed deserve it, as he has been keeping up the HoF section on those days where I have totally given up on it *and* managed to level to 52, so, thanks Dlirk. :)

Dlirk just lost his Ancient Plate Mail in a freak mishap with the Teleport Home scroll. I'm sure donations are accepted. :)

Anyway, let the comments begin! Muahahaha..

    July 1 - Pre-HoC Chat Transcript
Originally, the #ncsoft House of Commons chat for July was scheduled on July 1, Kyzah, Leilo and captsturm all showed up, and instead of having a formal chat, we had a free-for-all in the #lineage free chat channel. I recorded the whole chat and tried to isolate just the questions and answers, which was tricky since everyone was talking at once (now I know why they are moderated ;)

    July 10 - Level 50 + chart
Kyzah posted this thread just now: http://boards.lineage-us.com/cgi-bin/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=Discussions&Number=376654. I put it in chart form :)

These are the official numbers as of July 10, 2003 of all active players on the US servers.

For those curious about the LC HoF, we have 366 characters marked as active in our HoF (388 including inactive). 15 of the 366 are in the queue to be added (everyone should get a chance in the Quick News ;). Also, we have 13 people that need to be checked out and a handful that are fresh in my Inbox that need to be investigated. Thanks to everyone in the Lineage community (especially Dlirk ;), we have all kept the HoF pretty accurate. Thanks everyone!

    IT Giants Pairing Off
    Posted at http://english.chosun.com/w21data/html/news/200307/200307100018.html:
    by Paik Seung-jae (whitesj@chosun.com)

Top IT firms in Korea have been aggressively seeking new alliances. Microsoft (MS) Korea signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday with NCsoft, the nation's largest on-line game operator. Under the deal, MS Korea is to provide NCsoft's games on its chatting program, MSN Messenger 6.0. According to MS Korea, the messenger program has about 7 million members, for staggering 75 percent market share.

An official at MS Korea said that MSN Messenger's market share would snowball when the program offers NCsoft's popular games.

On Wednesday, Sony Computer Entertainment Korea (SCEK), a game developer, tied up with KT Corp., Korea's largest telecommunications firm. Under the alliance, KT plans to market its wireless LAN gear, called NESPOT, with SCEK's Playstation games in one package.

Ncsoft, however, is still the most frenetic deal-maker. The firm signed a pact with Samsung Electronics on June 27 to give Samsung exclusive marketing rights to PCs that use NCsoft's new game, Lineage II.

    Episode 13 Lightning Round!
Assorted items from Lineage Playforum reporting on the Korean Test server:

    http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=4511
The exit from Silence Cave has been moved from DV to the north Large Wasteland.

    http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=4516
Castles now give HP recovery. Also, a golem dropped Headband of Darkness which is AC -1, safe to +4 and gives MP regen (a WIS 11 Dark Elf gains 5 MP per tick with blue and 7 MP per tick with blue and headband)

    http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=4499
A Silence Cave Spartoi dropped Robe of Darkness which is AC -5, safe to +6 and gives HP regen (a CON 8 Dark Elf gains 1 HP per tick and 6 HP per tick with robe)

    http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=4527
A player did some tests with a +9 Damascus Claw. On a level 48, AC -46 player, 10 hits with no enchants took off 250 HP. Using Armor Break and Shadow Fang, it took off 210-320 HP.

Also, Bring Stone has been changed from 10 MP to 5 MP.

Finally, tests also show that Final Burn takes off the amount of MP you use in HP, plus 2-3. So, if you have 200 MP, you will inflict 202-203 HP damage with Final Burn. (Corrections made -am) We'll test on the US Test server, to see if there is a significance to the +2/+3

    Lands of Aden server announcements
Just got back from July 4 holiday to find a stack of LoA announcements in my inbox. So, I'll just post them all in one post:
The Lands of Aden server will be brought down at 4:00 PM CDT on Sunday, July 6th to address significant hardware issues affecting that server. The Lands of Aden server will remain unavailable for an indeterminate period of time as our Network Team works to resolve these issues, and we will return the Lands of Aden server to service once these issues are resolved. Our apologies for any inconvenience this downtime may cause.
The Lands of Aden server has been returned to service at approximately 6:00 PM CDT and is now accessible as normal. Due to significant hardware issues affecting the server, we have swapped to a replacement server. When the server returned to service, it was reverted to approximately 4:30 PM CDT on Sunday, July 6th. We appreciate your patience in this matter and apologize for any inconvenience.

    LeeGiGum Bubsa 2 - 68
NewsPos reported (back on 6/21 - http://www.newspos.com/Content.asp?tb=writer&ob=news&seqs=94&page=1&pb=N) that LeeGiGum Bubsa 2, mage on Korea's Paagrio server, has achieved another level. Oddly, it took him exactly the same time to get from 67 to 68 as it took Poseidon to get from 73 to 75. Maybe they just announce together?

If you recall, he was the mage that was killing level 6x knights in LiTo using only Vampiric Touch.

Summarizing from earlier posts, he started off as a STR/CON mage and has added +3 STR, +3 DEX and +11 INT and +1 CHA.

    Powerman - 68
NewsPos reports (http://www.newspos.com/Content.asp?tb=writer&ob=news&seqs=99&page=1&pb=N) that PowerMan, knight on Korea's Owen server, has been level 68 (the news was posted on 6/28, when he was already 44% on his way to 69). However, he has also broken the 1000 HP barrier.

Looks like he started adding to CON before Poseidon did, as he has 1015 HP with no items!

Powerman believes that there was a 1000 HP cap, but as Poseidon came close to breaking it, they changed the rules for him. (Now we all get to benefit!).

If you recall, Han Byul is the lucky elf that has a +9 Sayha's Bow and a +9 Sword of Flame.

Maphr's Strife, a New LoA Weapon

Rathi and Neogen have both found one of the new swords on Loa Called Maphr's Strife. At the moment I have been told it drops from Ogres and King Bugbears. It casts a spell I haven't seen before but it resembles Stalac. The spell seems to go off about as often and unpredictable as a Dice Dagger or Maphr's Pestilence. Thanks to Rathi, Elvenstar and Neogen for allowing me to get this info and these pics.

The One Ring Fell Into the Wrong Hands
Just kidding NEO! NEO, highest level mage on Dep has found himself in the possession of a Ring of Summon Control. Ouch. Now, at level 55 with a pair of Dire Wolves, he seems to be cleaning up Forgotten Island solo. (I think he was able to do that before, anyway).

This screenshot above also shows the menu he is given when he casts Summon while wearing the ring. Not only does he get the summon for his level, but he can also choose from any previous summon too. Neat ring!

cthulul and GuruKismet both wrote in about Pleo getting a Shield of Medusa from a Chimera on ToI 5f the other day.

Looks like it's usable by all, AC -2 and +5 % MR. Safe enchant is +4, but it's still a nice addition for your MR set if you're not an Elf :)

    Poseidon - 75
As most of you already know, Poseidon, knight on Korea's Gunter server, reached level 75 on June 21 (http://www.newspos.com/Content.asp?tb=writer&ob=news&seqs=93&page=1&pb=N). But for the record, we're posting it anyway :)

He has broken the 1000 HP which was previously thought to be a hard cap on HP. Since we last heard from him (April 22, he reached 73) it looks like he has added the two points to DEX, for a base DEX of 22. (27 with magic)

Above, a screenshot without armor and below, he is battle-ready.

Poseidon says level gain has slowed down alot for him. The XP requirements have doubled again for each level above 75. So you can put it into the proper context, levelling from 75 to 76 is like levelling a character from 1-52 and then another character from 1 to 53. Of course, it's much easier when you're practically unhittable, your base HP is 1002 and Forgotten Island is a walk in the park (He can take a FI Cyclops with no pots). It's a wonder he stays awake at the keyboard.

Poseidon hunts mostly on FI and is looking forward to the Tower of Insolence 50-floor update that is planned.

Light and Shadow: Shadow Boots, Shadow Cloak
Lineage Playforum reports (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=4481) some new items on the Korean Test server.

Shadow Boots: AC -2, Dark Elf only, DEX +1, Weight 20

Shadow Cloak: AC -3, Dark Elf only, HP +30, Weight 20

Also, people have been asking what the HP/MP are like for the Dark Elves. Well, we haven't found any good sources of data yet, but as a reminder, below are the Dark Elf starting stats.

    7 points to distribute over: STR 12, DEX 15, CON 8, WIS 11, CHA 10, INT 12.

It was quickly mentioned in one of yesterday's articles on Playforum that the HP level up gain was between 5-9 HP per level (like a DEX elf) and that the MP level up gain was between 2-6 MP per level, regardless of the points put in CON. Hopefully we can all work together to do some data collection when it goes live.

    Dark Elven Item Creation
NewsPos (http://www.newspos.com/Content.asp?tb=bnews&ob=news&seqs=58&page=1&pb=N) reported on the Dark Elven item creation process. Three double swords, three claws and two of the crossbows can be constructed from an NPC in Silence Cave.

We're not really clear on how this whole Bring Stone system works (still working on that) but our best guess is that the Bring Stone spell is used to evolve stones, with a built-in chance of evaporation. So, if you have a level 1 stone, you can make a level 2 stone. A level 2 stone can go to a level 3 stone. However, each step of the way, there is a chance of blowing the stone. So, level 3 stones are obviously more rare than level 2 stones. That's a guess at how it works at least. Regardless, the ingredients mention 3 types of stones, which we will call Stone #1, Stone #2 and Stone #3 for now, until we have the system down better.

    • Shadow Blades - 100 Stone #1, 10 Iron, 20 Hard Leather
    • Short Blades - Shadow Blades, 100 Stone #2, 5 Stone #3, 20 Iron, 20 Hard Leather
    • Damascus Blades - Shadow Blades, 50 Stone #1, 20 Stone #2, 1 Stone #3, 1 Diamond, 10 Iron, 20 Hard Leather.
    • Shadow Claw - 100 Stone #1, 5 Stone #2, 10 Iron, 10 Hard Leather
    • Short Claw - Shadow Claw, 100 Stone #2, 10 Stone #3, 10 Iron, 10 Hard Leather
    • Damascus Claws - Shadow Claw, 40 Stone #1, 30 Stone #2, 1 Stone #3, 1 Diamond, 10 Iron, 10 Leather
    • Shadow Crossbow - 100 Stone #1, 10 Stone #2, 10 Iron, 30 Hard Leather
    • Short Crossbow - 100 Stone #2, 20 Stone #3, 10 Iron, 30 Hard Leather

Obviously, this was all very vague, but hopefully over the next few weeks it will start to mean something!

Also noticed was a new morph at level 45, the Assassin. No further information is known about this yet. Please also note that Death Knight morph is [still] level 52 in this screenshot from Korean Test server yesterday. The reporter also noted that Dark Elves appear to *always* be "in-morph". Monsters that are aggressive to unmorphed players seem to be passive to Dark Elves.

    Dark Elven Magic
We translated the Korean Test server Magic Help descriptions and put them in the Magic Guide. Boy was that a mess! I'll have to make updates to the regular magic later, but for now, you can check out the Dark Elf magic requirements and some better descriptions.

We're still not clear on the item creation process for Dark Elves.

    Dark Elf Level 15 Quest
Encia from Lineage Playforum (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=4476), did the very easy Dark Elf level 15 quest and wrote about it. We've translated and put it in the guide section.

    Dark Elf Level 15 Quest

In the same article, it is mentioned that the strongest claw you can buy, the Damascus Claw, has a level 30 level minimum.

Also, currently, the Dark Elves learn a regular magic level every 12 levels , not every 8 levels as was previously stated by NC. Dark Elven magic is still believed to be every 15 levels.

Update: NewsPos posted that all but the lowest double sword and claw have item level restrictions. I have added those restrictions to the post below.

Phantasm Island: Dark Side of Unicorn
Lineage Playforum reports (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=4474) that if you cancel a Unicorn on the Korean Test server right now, it becomes a Nightmare. However, this Nightmare is some kind of uber boss which drops COI, Tsurugi and Belts. Of course, this is subject to change before it goes live, but just wanted to post a quick note. :)

    Server Publish 7/2
If you get any great drops (better than n-dai) from the Mimics, please take a screenshot of the item drop line in your chat window and email them to web@lineagecompendium.com. We'll post a summary of all the kinds of things that were dropped at the end of the event. :) Include your char name and server name if you want to be mentioned.
The US Lineage servers will be brought down for a brief maintenance and publish on Wednesday, July 2nd at 10:00 AM CDT. The contents of this publish will include the following:

    All servers:

    • Join us for the Dangerous Majicks Event Week! Living treasure chests will spawn throughout the mainland regions of Aden with goodies inside—but be wary, the chests do tend to bite back! The event will end with the regular weekly maintenance period on Wednesday, July 9th.

    Lands of Aden server:

    • New magical weapons are now available; these include Maphr’s Pestilence (Knight-only), Maphr’s Strife (Knight-only), and Paagrio’s Hatred (Knight-only); these weapons will have a random chance of doing a “direct damage” magical attack similar in appearance, but not in functionality, to existing spells. Maphr’s Pestilence and Maphr’s Strife will be added as a rare drop from certain creatures, and Paagrio’s Hatred can be crafted with the assistance of the NPC Gorah, located outside of the Orc Fort.
    • The NPC Arina in Heine will now assist in the crafting of the new Mermaid’s Necklace (all classes), offering the wearer an additional +1 MP regeneration per tick.
    • The powerful wizard Elindaire will now spawn randomly in Heine Dungeon.

    Phantasm Island
Despite what was mentioned by NC yesterday, Lineage Playforum reports (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=4472) that, on the Korean Test server, Phantasm Island is currently a normal zone. If you attack someone, you turn purple, just like .. well, normal.

You start in the middle of the southern end of the island (at the "6 o'clock" position) and there are four major connected islands.

In the southern island, there are Killer Bees and Dream Weavers everywhere. Many monsters have deceptive appearances, as there are weak and strong forms for many Phantasm Island monsters. For example, there are very strong Crazy Rabbits. One exception is Unicorn, which is always strong.

Unicorn is about as strong as a Lava Golem, but with more HP. Guardian Armors take no physical damage, so they must be dispatched with magic. The strong versions of Ball Lightning and Dream Weaver can do up to 300 HP per hit.

The Eastern island has Fire Eggs and Salamanders, ranging in level, and the Western Island has Ice Golems and Ice Man. One Ice Golem gave the (level 48) reporter an n-dai, however, this was after it broke his weapon 9 times and used over 100 reds on it.

There is a boss, an elemental Great Spirit, (Great Spirit of Fire, for example). These things are about the strength of Drake.. without Counter Magic, it ended the reporter in 2 hits. These bosses drop blessed enchant scrolls, rings and belts.

    Silence Cave
Lineage Playforum has starting posting information about the new Dark Elf town (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=4470).

The world has forced Dark Elves to retreat into the ground, and they've been living in a cave called Silence Cave, located under DV. Looks like someone has uncovered those stairs. It's a rough life, as leaving the Dark Elf newbie area introduces you immediately to Cockatrice, but I digress.

The NPC in Silence Cave sells all the typical newbie item shops, as well as new Dark Elf items. These items are Dark Elf only. Here is a list of their names and prices. (Item stats integrated from NewsPos: http://www.newspos.com/Content.asp?tb=bnews&ob=news&seqs=58&page=1&pb=N)

    • Old Light Blades - 1000a, 6/4, 2-handed, +2 hit, wt 20
    • Strong Steel Blades - 3000a, 8/5, 2-handed, +1 hit, wt 30, lvl 5+
    • Shadow Blades - 8000a, 10/5, 2-handed, +1 hit, wt 50, lvl 10+
    • Short Blades - 20,000a, 12/6, 2-handed, +1 hit, wt 60, lvl 15+
    • Damascus Blades - 45,000a, 14/8, 2-handed, wt 70, lvl 30+
    • Old Light Claws - 2,000a, 5/5, 2-handed, +2 hit, wt 30
    • Strong Steel Claws - 5,000a, 7/7, 2-handed, +1 hit, wt 30, lvl 5+
    • Shadow Claws - 10,000a, 10/9, 2-handed, +1 hit, wt 60, lvl 10+
    • Short Claws - 24,000a, 13/12, 2-handed, +1 hit, wt 80, lvl 15+
    • Damascus Claws - 50,000a, 16/14, 2-handed, wt 80, lvl 30+
    • Sting - 2a each, 10/10, wt 1 (projectile)
    • Silver Sting - 3a each, 8/8, silver, wt 1 (projectile)
    • Heavy Sting - 4a each, 14/14, wt 2 (projectile)
    • Gauntlet - 10,000a, 2/2, +1 hit, wt 20 (used to launch Stings)

In addition, Dark Elves can see in the dark..

Like regular infravision, this can be disabled in the options menu.

Also, there is a teleporter to Hidden Valley, if you feel that DV is not suitable for your newbie to hunt ;)

    Lineage: The Cross Rancor
Just connected to the Korean Test server.. No longer is it called "Lineage: The Bloodpledge". Now it's "Lineage: The Cross Rancor". Login screen has changed too. CaptSturm mentioned in the pseudo-HoC chat today that the naming convention wouldn't necessarily be followed in the US (transcript to come), but things sure are changing!

Episode 13 - Dark Elf, the Assassin, and Phantasm Island Monsters
Lineage Playforum (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051003&kid=2033) posted lots of information about the new Dark Elf class. So here is the summary:

Dark Elf can learn up to level 2 of regular mage magic, every 8 levels. Every 15 levels, they can learn Dark Magic, which has 3 levels (so, final spells come at level 45).

Dark elf cannot use 2-handed weapons. However, they do have a lot of new Dark Elf weapons in Episode 13: Double-Sword (fast attack), Crossbow, Claw (2-handed, fast), Shuriken. They can't use regular bows. Their crossbow speed is between that of knight and elf..

    Dark Magic
    Level 1
Blind Hiding - invisibility for a duration
Enchant Venom - weapons can inflict poison
Shadow armor - for a given duration, your defense increases
Bring Stone - uses power of stone to attack
    Level 2
Moving Acceleration - +50% walking speed and can be used in combination with haste
Burning Spirit - raises your attack abilities
Dark Blind - blinds the target
    Venom Resist - resists poisoning
    Level 3
Armor Break - damages AC of target temporarily
Uncanny Dodge - raises defense abilities
Shadow Fang - raises attack abilities of weapon
Final Burn - reduces your HP and MP to 1 and inflicts critical damage on target

In addition, a Dark Elf can see better in the dark. They don't have infravision, but they can see better than humans can. The motif for dark elf is assassin: so, they can't use heavy armor, can't use spear, staff, axe, two-handed weapons, but they do have 20% increased walking speed of other characters.

When you have double swords on a dark elf, it attacks twice. The base damage is lower, but to get a fair comparison, you have to double it. Also, Crossbow has a critical hit probability. To use a shuriken, you need shuriken gloves. Shurikens have shorter range than bow, but higher damage.

There will also be a new item creation system with 5 levels of enhancements to item creation. Items can also evaporate through item enhancement, like they do with enchantment. New and existing equipment will be involved in this system, however, existing items like Bless of Eva, which wouldn't fit in the theme of dark elf assassin, are not a part of it.

Items which are constructed with "stones" (part of the Episode) can be enchanted to +6. Other dark elf items to +4. The stone is the same power (story-wise) used in the Bring Stone spell.

    Monsters
Guardian Armor - strong version of Living Armor, magic attack is more effective against this creature. Will o' Wisp Unicorn - attacks with 4 legs, special attack is stabbing with horn. There's no plan to drop unicorn horn. Crazy Rabbit - uses hind legs to attack and special attack is jump and bite.
Great Elementals - giant spirit, using their elementals against them is futile. air has a 2 cell spear attack and 7 cell tornado.
Diamond Golem - strongest golem of all golems Ball Lightning Killer Bee - uses stinger, special attack is biting

Episode 13 - Dark Elf Home, Phantasm Island
Lineage Playforum posted (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051003&kid=2031) information on the upcoming Episode. Below is a link to 20 screenshots and a very cool promo poster for the upcoming Episode 13, the first of six episodes in "Lineage Part II".

Of interest, PlayForum mentioned that there is no death penalty of any kind on Phantasm Island - no item drop, no XP loss. You get there by paying 1000a adena to a special NPC in Aden's Gypsy Town. There is no level limit and no PvP on Phantasm Island - the entire area is a Safety Zone. If you die up there, you also go back to the Gypsy Town.

The catch is that the monsters you face are of ambiguous strength. You never know if you're fighting an extremely strong monster or a weak one, because some of them look exactly the same.

    Horror Runs AMUCK!!
Okay, so maybe not horror—but still pretty darn scary for some folks. It seems as though our friend Bobo had a greedy side. Legend often refers to lost treasure stored away in various chests throughout the lost dungeons of Aden. The enterprising young wizard had decided if he could simply give life to the various treasure chests and instruct them to seek him out... voila! Free money!

As Bobo casts his spells, so the trouble begins. Everyone knows you have to walk in rapid, tight little circles when reciting the incantation for this type of spell; “Robert the Magnificent” trips over his dress. (His wizard’s robe had jam stains, so he was in fact wearing his mother's dress. He figured no one would notice, which they may not have, except he happened to be wearing it wrong-side out. But that’s another story.) Long story short, Little Bobby trips over the hemline, the spell goes awry, and the treasure chests come to life—but only roam the countryside.

I’m sure Little Bobby will get quite a lecture, but in the meantime, perhaps the good citizens of Aden will help clear out this little infestation problem we’re having…?

Join us on the Depardieu, Ken Rauhel, and Lands of Aden servers for the Dangerous Majicks Event Week! Living treasure chests will spawn throughout the mainland regions of Aden with goodies inside—but be wary, the chests do tend to bite back! The event will commence with the weekly maintenance period on Wednesday, July 2nd at 10:00 AM CDT and will end with the regular weekly maintenance period on Wednesday, July 9th.
