So long and thanks for all the cheese..

Hello Everyone..

This is likely one of the last posts that will be on LC/L2C. Running this fansite has had fun moments but at some point (long ago) turned from a project for fun to a daily chore lasting into the late hours of the night just doing daily maintenance. The Lineage world just changes too fast for me to keep up with! I foolishly let this site consume my life - I don't do anything fun any more and I've neglected my friends and family, which are the most important things to me. So, I have to go rescue myself.

The bills are paid until the end of the month and I've told my ISP to disconnect service per their policy. (By the way, this has NOTHING to do with money). To everyone who has sent me emails that I have not responded to, I just want to say that I've read them all and I seriously have emails from May 2002 that I was "going to get to". 499 sitting in my inbox that I hoped to one day reply to. My plan is to remove the database and site from the Internet on August 31, so if there is anything you see that you like, you better save it to your HD now :)

Maybe one day in the future, I'll see you all in Aden. Good luck everyone, please support the other fansites (it's alot of thankless work and some of you guys are complete assholes ;) and please remember to enjoy games, not live them. :)

For the curious, I posted the to-do list I was once working on (for LC). Hopefully one or more sites will now take all these ideas and implement them ^^

I'd also like to thank amateras for translating for LC every single day for I don't even know how long, BigPope for all the ideas and information he has brought to us and all the reporters - you guys really did an awesome job and I was honored to post your articles on the site ^^

Surely with all the Reporter/Admin structure you could hand over all the chore parts (sorry) to someone else? It'd be a shame for all this info and infrastructure to disappear...

damn dude i totaly sympathise with u but lc was what made lin1 a far greater game than other games becouse u keept the community a bit more alive i think u should be payd by nc do this as a living with the death of compendium nc will shurly feel the blow becouse it was just as much a service to thwem as to us playaer

Hey just wanna say thanks to a great job well done over the years with this site. Its true many have this page as their homepage, including me. This site has just about everything a lineage fan needs or wants to see. You've done a stupendous job and it made me mad to read some of the earlier posts saying nothing but NOOOOOOOOO dont leave US....WE HATE You. I hope those people die and burn in hell. Dont you people ever think how hard it must be to keep a big website such as LC.com up and running everyday?
Anyways just wanted to say thanks to you, Amer, and to all the people/staffs that helped keep this awesome page running for so long. I cant say that I am not sad about LC.com goin down. I just wish there's an alternative, such as shrinking down the site and make it not such hard work to maintain the site. Ofcourse it wont be the same but better than nothing. Maybe just make the site for news, such as new updates from Korea...that would be nice.
Well good luck in what you do and hope to see you on Lineage sometimes.

Bah, you're an a**hole for leaving us.

This is one of our fav sites for such crack heads like us to get info on this game. Its an extension of the mother site www.lineage.com and one of the best layouts rivaling other fansites.

I like your fansite b/c green is a pleasant color. WHERE oh where am i going to find a fine site like this with green background that is simple yet updated often and easy to read?

It's sad to see you go.
I have came here ever since I have played lineage, got almost all my info for lineage here (and other things)
I learned how to make items, what drops what, how hard mops are...
This site also showed and told alot more then any other site.
The interviews with lvl 50+ people were always interesting to read.
Nevertheless you must go and live your life... T.T
but you will be dearly missed by me and many of my friends.

Wow, I swear to God if this was anywhere near April 1st I'd put $1,000 dollars that this was a joke. But seriously I also check this site everyday at least twice in my spare time, and I dont even play anymore; kindve a habit I picked up over the years. I remember arguing with you Amer on the Lin Message Boards when NC changed the trial from 30 days to 7 days (credit card required)...I remember seeing the old LineageCompendium and thinking to myself, "wow, this looks like crap" and although it was back then I think all the fansites around the world for lineage respect this one as I see many of the things you have done here at the others, I expect the dedication you and your friends had for this site carries over to real life, anyways, good luck man.

Very good luck with whatever endeavour you hold. The only question I would have is why let LC die, not hand it over to someone willing to try administer it (and cover the costs lol).

I can only Imagine how much work it must be to run a site like this. Frequent updates and good extras made this the best L2 Site ive seen. Going to miss this great reasource.

The place as grown a million times over since its modest little days on greenmont.org. You did an excellent job with it Amer! I'm sure you've hardly had a day of peace since. :)

Oh my this almost makes me cry, i love your site so much check it at least 5 times a day if there is any news. But i can also understand that you have a real life yourrself and such a site as this takes alot off time and you get sucked into it because you love to improve it. I think everyone is going to miss this lovely site with so many resources about lineage.

Wow, i cant belive it....this site was the first thing i looked at b4 i started playing lineage. It is my home and favorite site period. I am sad its leaving but understand the reasons why. Thanks for all the useful infomation LC. This site will surely be missed by the players and fans of lineage.

Wow Im just starting to realise what this means o.0

Every single newspost/ links to articles/ update I have followed. I checked this site so unbelievable much that even when 1 of my parents entered the room they'd say (sometimes even before they saw my screen): Checking LC again..? lol =)
For a very long time (really cant remember) this site is (soon 2 be was T.T) my homepage. At 1st LC.com , now since a month L2C.com. Jeez I cant even remember what site I had as homepage be4 LC...
It prolly still gonna be a slap in the face when I try to go to LC after the 31th and I get a white screen.

for all the work u've put into this site! This site was always full of life, always making new sections with more more and more info and interviews keep up to date with 50+ players! And all the cool ideas in the To Do list!!! 1 word: Respect.

As much as I and all the others here that frequent LC and L2C want you to stay, there's nothing much we could do when you've already made your decision to leave. You've brought us all great information about the Lineage world and I thank you for the dedication you put into the site. Some good things have to end and this is one of them; nothing will replace LC with the amount of content and information brought to the English players of Lineage. LC will always be #1 in my heart.

Amer, I just at a loss for words. This site has provided the Lineage community with so much valuable knowledge over the years. It will be missed by all that play (live) Lineage.

I for one, use your site to get news about all aspects of Lineage. Whether it be new updates from Korea or info from lineage.com. It truly is a sad day, one that I never thought would come. LC & L2C will be missed by all.

Thanks again Amer for one of the very best Lineage fansites!

P.S. I've seen a lot of fansites for many different games, this site is one the best fansite I've seen yet.

I just read every single post, and i feel depressed knowing how much people cared about this site. i have only known about this site for nearly 3 weeks, and i check it about 20 times a day. i would have put it as my home page if the game was in english. i used this site to guide me through lineage2 and without it, im pretty much screwed. lol ive already copied and pasted all the armor and weapon info onto paint lol. well anyways i know what you mean, i spent my whole summer of 2002 sitting on my but playing the game called runescape, and didnt take a break until school started...now i fear lineage2 will take that place when it comes out. but good luck with life, enjoy it, and never give in to any problems. lifes to short to eat bad food and drink bad wine ;-D.

And since you probably wont keep this site even though many people would like that, i just hope you find something that can fill your life with joy instead of work. i cant imagine how much effort you put into this site and its sad to just see it thrown away like this :'(

but again thanks for everything youve done for the lineage gaming community and im sure if i played lineage 1 and found out u were shutting this site down i would probably cry...and im not exagerating...

well lineage.warcry.com is kind good for lineage 2 i guess...its a start...not as good as this site though.

and some said lineageguide.com is good for lineage 1, i guess but i have never played so...

Compendium has been the best place to come for information and posts. I came here when the 'long bow' (yumi) was to be implemented and got all the information...heck, I remember what it was like before you created Compendium; information gathering was a mess and a slew of PMs on the old boards...

Something tells me you will be back, though.. ;) I am hopeful!

I once thought LC was the offical Lineage website, surely Amer and LC are professional. They brought all the players together.

Amer.. you have people willing to donate large amounts of money from their own savings (in spitfire's case, $1000) just to keep this site alive. Things I do in a day..
9am - reach work, open I.E, type in www.lineagecompendium
10am - close I.E coz boss is around...
12pm - lunch time, open I.E, type in www.lineagecompendium
1pm - end of lunch time, close I.E
6pm - reach home from work, open I.E, type in www.lineagecompendium
7pm - open lineage2, but keeps website in the background.

even though I have quit lineage for a year+ now..I still logs in once in awhile to see whats going on...
and now im playing lin2...i logs in to LC2 to check for updates...

these daily habits will have to change now :(

I shudder at the thought I have to go to lineage.com news.....

Anyway, real life before Lineage is what I always say. Took me a while to get my priorities straight also but now things couldn't be any better. Hope things for you are better Amer, but hope to see you around the community also.

If amer would be willing to share the php source files, I would be more than willing to host the site on my own server. I am confident I could handle the load (I get up to 30GB/month). I can't promise I would be able to update it much at all (hey thats what reporters are for ^^) but at least we would all have the stats to check as they exist today. If you save anythign to your computer now, it wont function (like the morph guide or the calculator) as the php code isn't in the file you download and save.

Well, amer if you catch this, I sent you an email. Hopefully you would be willing to share this great info to help the comunity in one last effort. And good luck in life. I know how some things can really tie up all your time. Have fun!!

Well I knew it was going to happens to someone else :/ me aka (ZCABRONZ) had Lin site for 4 years. I had to quit Lineage and the site so I could actually study and play game (yes when u own a site like this = no time for game).

I am working at L2W (lineage.warcry.com , Lineage II Warcry) right now and I am "happy" to take over the contents of the site (db etc ^^) and keep updating... Of course we do not have a Korean translator so, I guess translations are over (btw we won't say no to any translators)...

We will do our best to keep the Lineage 2 community alive...

I will email Amer today and talk to him about this issue. I hope we can agree on something. We had problems in the past but I am still sad to see this site close.

LC would be greatly missed, I visit it everyday about 5 times...
I remeber when LC was first starting off, everyone called it a stupid site, kept correcting poor Amer (me not excluded >.<) now look where it is. The bandwith on the site would be astonishing look at how many visit the site multiple times of the day...

I couldn't belive when people said that LC was slow on updates and 50HallofFame. They don't realise the work that goes into running this huge community, (plus the fact that the 50HOF is/was backdated by 3 weeks -_-). I bet they are kicking themselves that they said that now, they will realise how much LC will be missed...

I will miss LC.

I guess I'm the only one that can say I've been waiting for this. It was a great site, but the cycle has to continue. And, believe it or not, there will be another great fansite after this, and another after that. If anything, this should send a message to NCSoft to make their own site more informative. They need to have a more extensive items/monsters database anyways.

well.. its over now. amer your site was a breath of fresh air for the lineage community all around the planet. it is a site that NEVER will be forgotten.

i personally have quit lineage permanently, i was one of those that played 10-12 hrs / day. i have made other goals / directions for myself in life so i quit lineage.

i have a girl friend and a life now.

but i STILL check lineagecompendium.com from time to time!

amer thx for all of your work / generosity to the community. whether you know it or not.. you HAVE had a very positive effect on people. you have a very sound sense of reasoning for placing a higher priority on your friends and family.

as for all of you lineage addicts.. take amers explanation of his / her reasoning for discontinuing the site, as a reminder that life is the BEST game.

k seiously..... assuming no other site startws translating and analyzing info from korea by february or so, think of episode 14 0.0

NC-Austin has given us very little info about ep 13.. just that Dark elves will be in it o.o they dont talk about elixirs or little bug fixes or anything like that. people will just hop on lineage and wont know what the fuck we are supposed to do when ep 14 comes around...

Amer and amateras, you guys have given us more than enuf info on ep 13, so that the US market will be prepared, but if ep 14 is as big as 13, we will be lost and stranded...

gonna miss you guys... oh yeah and the hall of fame o.O! On loa, thats like the only way to publicise someone.. (your Spotlights make people famous o.O)

Youve had such a big impact on the lineage community, and you can close the site realising that without you, lineage would have been a COMPLETELY different game.... On a side note, i remembered when a site similar to yours was lost also, that
was ik.hypermart.net...its fanbase wasnt as large as yours cause lineage was
just getting started but it was missed just bas badly. If anyone would like to
see "very old" screenshots or info on lineage look up ik.hypermart.net or
lsnake.hypermart.net...you can see how far lineage has really come.

I thought this day would never come, yet, in the back of my mind, I always wondered how you devoted so much time to this awesome site. I know I would never be able to do something of this calibur. I fully understand how something like this could be become 'work' rather then 'pleasure'. Although i never had a chance to talk to you directly, seeing the work you've achived, I can only imagine how great a person you are. Your work have served many many Lineage gamers and has set a new high standard for any fan site out there who would want to be recognise. It's pretty sad to see the site go but I'm sure it was not easy for you make this decision. Many of us appreciate your hard work you've been putting on this site to help many players and LC definately helped me most understanding the game and got me hooked to play lineage. If there was no LC, I dont know if I could be where I am now.. LC was always been my favorite site ever since I first found the site and it also gave me many great memories. Well, I guess I'll look for a new homepage....

I think this is my first post here but I've read this site everyday for well over a year now and when I say everyday, it actually means MANY times a day

This site will be greatly missed and saying it's the "heart of lineage" almost is an understatment........
to me this site and all the information it provides is a part of lineage for me and I've recently contemplated quitting lineage and with this news I think that my decision will be much easier

I've taught my daughter how to play the game now and she also has learned the importance of the site, ahh to be new again .....

i would just like to say that i have officialy stopped playing lineage 2, never tried lineage one, and i quit lineage 2 not only because its going down but without this site it wont be fun when the game comes out for english.

Amer I must say that this site and everything you've done with have been nothing short of greatness and when it's gone as you can see above it will be greatly missed. However, if it's causing the stress that you say it is I would be wrong to ask you to reconsider. Although I feel safe in saying that no site will ever do what you have done here but we will all have to make due with what we can find. I wish you and yours all the best. Fare well.

I wish I could convince you that to destroy the whole thing instead of letting someone else run it for you is a cruel thing to do to us, you have no idea how much this page means to everyone.

ok guys, i hardly ever write stuff here.. but this will b the first time.. i have quit lineage for a long while... and i still check LC every single day that goes by... its just exciting to see how organized and informative the page is. always keeping everything up to date... if this page goes it will ruin many things to many ppl... i'm not trying to force u to stay and keep the page... but many ppl will actually miss this page in their hearts.. think about how many ppl out their keep this as their homepage..

At no point in time will any figure as great as Amer and his crew ever touch face on this game again. I'm sorry but no one could fill the LC void. LC means more then Lineage Compendium, it means Lineage Community. My heartfelt thanks goes out to Amer for all the hard work he did and to the other LC reporters. Everyone added a special touch to the site that no one would ever expect. Although such a bad loss I hope you enjoy yourself Amer in your next ventures, and to the LC crew I hope to see you all on IRC chats and such.

Amer this was the best site about lineage ever!! i understand that you have more important things in rl to care for...but this is the best lineage site, i come here for all of my resources i have lineage compendium always on...checking my calculator to see if my hp is right and looking at the hall of fame seeing if i could ever get as ood as some of the other players.. my brother Dlirk has put a lot of work and hard time like u into this site and i can believe that it is about to vanish...OMG i cant believe LC is coming to a close...can u just pass the flaming torch to another wiery traveler plz i cant play lineage without this site... just take that into consideration...and have a great real life we will miss u alot AMER and of course ure beloved site.....

When i first started playing lineage God seems forever ago :( the first thing i was told to do when i played was go check out LC :(

i think LC is close to being the BEST mmorpg fansite ever... i'm not sure what other fansites for any other online rpg come close the the completeness of Info LC has managed to collect.

maybe playforum or some other obscure site... none of my RO sites come close in terms of the completeness or accuracy...

Suggestion, if you would consider Amer, how about letting the group of reporters and a few select people take over the site from you? I mean people you can trust, so that the information on your site can stay up and do what you wanted this site to do. Help new and current players with their daily Lineage lives. I am sure that money wouldn't be a problem, seeing how the donations have been very generous to the site. Just a thought and I am offering my help to be apart of that group once I have settled down from my busy life as of late.

I think any person that has ever played this game and been to LC or L2C would gladly help run this site. I know I would I get all sad knowing that it will be gone. What will I have to check 20 times a day hoping for new news. The forums you gave us for Lin 2, to help cope with the anticipation, all the info. You guys did a damn great job. Amer, i'm happy to see that you're making a change for the better in your life. I'm glad you are going to do what makes you happy and that you're going to move on with your life. I loved this game and I love this website, but I would never ask somebody to continue doing something that was started for fun and ended up being a burden. I think too many people get lost in these traps in life and I'm happy to see you're getting out of it. Too many people go into things only with the idea of fun in mind and they get so caught up that they forget why they started it in the first place. It makes me sad to see all the people who are asking you to keep it open because it has all the Lineage info on it. This is a great website and indeed has all things Lineage related that anybody could ever want to know. But at the same time, you need to have fun too. I think many players in Lineage don't have fun anymore and only work hard playing the game to strive to be the best player in Lineage, which is very sad. I hope you read this post, Amer. Good luck with your future endeavors and I, along with the rest of the players in Lineage (even those who are too busy asking you to keep the site open for the info) thank you for your years of hard work and helping so many people in Lineage to learn the game better. Hate to see LC go down. As many people have said, lineagecompendium is a big part of lineage and NC will definately feel it after the site is down. All i can say is I hope someone will be willing to dedicate their time to make another site with as much info as this one, and with all the different features such as the experience calculator, the monsters, items, how to make elven items, the level 50+ hall of fame, etc etc. We will all miss Amer, the reporters and all of this site. Peace out Amer and LC. KICK ASS job with the site man, 100% the best fan site i've ever seen, for anything.

Since I started playin lineage i'd visit lc everyday, it was always so helpfull, and lc is also one of the main reasons why i'm 50+ and goin for dk+, wanted to make the HOF ever since i first saw it ;). Was hopin for a DK interview someday :((that was my favorite part of the site, fun to read) I'm sad to see lc go, say it ain't so!

Anyway, hope to see LC return somehow some day, but reguardless, good luck to ya. Peace out man

I understand you need time for RL stff but cant you just leave the site as it is? and stop doing the news?
I honostly dont know where else to get the info i need to play the game, if it wasent for you and this site i would never have been able to do the lvl 45 quest and i REALY need it to do the 50 quest.
