LoA SpotLight: The Road to Ruin |
Prince Drad has been playing Lineage since Depardieu beta days, just before Pay to Play went into effect. Hailing from Quake II, and a clan called Ruin, this pledge leader has been around for a very long time indeed.
Lineage was not an instant love for our dear prince. When Quake II lost her flavor and Drad found himself searching for a new home, it took more than a second glance for Aden to catch his eye. But when she did, and when he stared into her cool gaze ... in Aden, he saw his Ruin.
Drad now lives in the Lands of Aden. Tiring of Dark Knights and Invisible enemies, and tiring even more of steep death penalties for unjust causes (such as lag and disconnection), he set his jaw and made a hard decision. Yes, he would bring Ruin to Aden's fresh new dimension. Let it begin!
Drad learned a few things on Depardieu. Burned out on hours of discussions in halls with nobles and dignitaries, haggling about who would rule which castle for how long, this prince learned he is more a man of action and less of words. He learned he does not take well to orders. That he couldn't give a flip about diplomacy. He learned he was ready to operate lean and mean.
This is a prince who is ready to rise on his own merits, and to spread Ruin throughout the land.
When asked if he found it hard to leave his riches on Dep, he replied not at all. "I didn't have billions. I gave things to my son, so I can get them back easily enough, but 1.8 million was fairly easy to walk away from."
Drad finds himself more than equal to his Depardieu counterparts. He has already surpassed himself in level of experience as well as in level of enjoyment. And yet he has mellowed in his years of rule. Where he used to revel in ending the Red, he now plays on a warning system (depending on mood and seriousness of infraction).
1: verbal warning
2: shots fired
3: ended over and over until you are level 10 and deleted and remade with new name
(skip to 2 if he is cranky)
When asked if he's learned any tricks along the way to Ruin, I thought I detected a sly smile under that mop of royal red hair.
He replied, "Take a beagle along on your hunt if you want to be alone and not have your drops stolen."
I patiently awaited the secret to a beagle's ability to clear the screen. Could it be that they are so fast that an enemy freeze-locks when attacked? No, it was something much more simple.
"They are so yappy," Drad continued. "I don't think anyone likes to hunt near them because of the noise."
